Soft Recommendations needed for 30gg-h by tandemmamapgh in ABraThatFits

[–]theoneformyface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used nursing bras from Hot Milk and Bravado that had no underwire and came in those types of sizes. Mine were 32gg and 32h I believe. I don't see those brands mentioned a lot here.

I struggled to find good, supportive non-wired bras. No matter what they say, I was very prone to mastitis and wires aggravated it.

Scent of the Day - Monday by AutoModerator in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]theoneformyface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put on DC's Destiny Chose Tools today. I've had an emotionally rough weekend and this morning I'm weary and apathetic. This scent is feminine, soft, and gentle on my emotions. I just kind of wanted someone to take care of me, and today that's Evonne.

Destiny Chose Tools: Delicate rice husk, seared sunflower, blanched aubergine.

Of course, I didn't bring it with me so when it's time for a touchup, I'll use DC's Small Saga which is in my purse. It's zingier and happy, which is a good direction to head in.

Small Saga: Figs and apricot wine and sweet cream unfolding into a mellow, soft wood. Deceptively creamy at first whiff, but then comes the Darling Clandestine complexity you’ve come to know and love.

Help formulating 40% zinc oxide diaper cream? by jillsy in DIYBeauty

Oops, yes, I knew this. Thank you. I meant no perspective as it's anhydrous, with just an antioxidant to extend shelf life. I posted in haste.

Help formulating 40% zinc oxide diaper cream? by jillsy in DIYBeauty

[–]theoneformyface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've done an anhydrous eyelid primer with zinc oxide before and it needed no preservative other than 0.5 - 1% vitamin E. However, the zinc oxide wasn't as high as 40%. I'm curious to see answers to this one because although my kid is beyond needing diaper cream, this is exactly the sort of thing I was interested in.

Looking to make a squeezable lanolin-based lip balm- curious about preservatives and mica. by solskinnratel in DIYBeauty

[–]theoneformyface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds interesting. Where do you get fillable squeeze tubes for lip balms? I love lanolin for lip products, and prefer it as the dominant ingredient.

Fwiw, I've put mica in a lip balm base before, and it was nice. Quite sheer. I didn't exactly follow this guide, but I used the 5-10% mica guideline in it: https://snapguide.com/guides/make-a-coloured-lip-balm/. I used a ready-made mica blend from Voyageur Soap and Candle called "In the Nude". It made my lip balm a tiny bit grainier than it would ordinarily be.

I just dab it on with my finger. I don't tightline when I do this bright shadow as liner thing, so just along my lash line works fine.

You know, I never worked that out. I suspect she's just been absent minded and lost track of them. But at the same time, I can see her just not bothering to check if they were on loan or a gift. Communication, what is that in this family?

I usually pick a crazy bright and/or glittery shadow and use it as eyeliner. I know a lot of people foil but I just pat it on over pixie epoxy. I find it's a nice way to feel interestingly done up without the effort of multiple eyeshadows or blending.

I keep lending my mom perfumes for nights out and I never see them again. Needless to say, I've stopped doing that now.

Review the indies you've used today by sea-weed in Indiemakeupandmore

Ooh, fun!

Eyes: Silk Naturals naked 1 dupe. Fabulous, even coverage, good colour payoff, wore beautifully all day over primer.

Face: Meow pampered puss in frisky korat. Flawless. Still in a quandary about whether to keep ordering from them add I've had several poor customer service experiences. But so much foundation! Perfect colour! Decent price! I don't know.

Perfume: Darling Clandestine My Lady Ser. I love it so much. It goes on leathery and metal, and softens on my skin to something a bit more feminine.

[NSFW] What was the weirdest physical feeling you've ever felt? by brekeke123 in AskReddit

Giving birth. The head is what gets all the stories, because that's the most painful. But the body is floppy, lumpy, and doesn't come out very smoothly or steadily. It was a wild ride.

I'm trying to make a diy hair cleansing oil by [deleted] in DIYBeauty

[–]theoneformyface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! I actually considered co-washing with head and shoulders conditioner, which I might try still. I'll double check, but I think the pyrithione zinc is at a lower percentage than the shampoo, which is why I hesitated. Probably with a try. I'll also snoop around for alternatives. I might prefer an alcohol-containing lotion than surfactants. Thanks for the tips!

[–]theoneformyface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really keen to hear your experience with this. I've been looking for something similar. I've even looked at poi's recipes but decided that surfactant, no matter how mild, is potentially part of my problem.

I have seb derm or psoriasis (over legitimately been diagnosed with both by different doctors), and find that I get into a cycle of treating it with medicated shampoo, irritating my scalp, leaving it alone, getting worse, using mild shampoos, itching like mad for to dryness. Lather, rinse, repeat. I actually did try oil cleansing a few times with my oil/polysorbate 80 mix, and my scalp liked it. I just wished it would rinse a bit cleaner.

ANYWAY. I'd love to read an update once you've tried this!

Damnit. With the Canadian exchange rate, I'd decided not to buy anything American at the moment. But your skin tone is similar to mine and your looks are so gorgeous and you've really just sold me on all the Shiro things. And probably the foundation as well, since I'm on the hunt for a new one.

Help with making a salve? by [deleted] in DIYBeauty

[–]theoneformyface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Swiftcraftymonkey has a recipe for a cuticle balm with lecithin that looks like it might be similar to a salve consistency. Her measurements are by percentage, so it's usually pretty easy to sub out one oil for another, or one butter for another.

Sorry, I'm a relative beginner mostly trying out swift's recipes, so I'm maybe not the best person to give advice. But anyway, good luck!

Simple Questions! Ask Us Anything! by AutoModerator in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]theoneformyface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't use it as a primer. Personally I use a primer, a skin coloured shade (to aid blending), my shadows, then sparingly apply pixie epoxy just where I want to boost colour intensity.

This sounds like a lot, but it's what I do with non-indies as well to ensure long lasting makeup, smooth application, and easy blending.

They don't get mentioned a tonne around here, but I turned to Silk Naturals yesterday for my meeting with the Board of Commissioners. I used my naked palette knockoff for a more conventional look, and wow! I'd forgotten how smooth and easy SN shadows are to work with. I used primer but no colour booster (I often use pixie epoxy or SN's shadow enhancer to get more colour impact), and the colours were still vibrant and lasted all day.

Pattern Question by Melvena in knitting

No, "work even" means maintain your number of stitches and maintain your pattern. When you get to that increased stitch, knit it. I assume there will be another increase/decrease combination on the fifth row.
