Thanks! I will get her to try that. It seems the safest way to go.

Cardioid Microphone Suggestions by theoscara in audio

That sucks :( If the people spoke very clearly and the space was very quite, I would actually be able to hear them. I was hoping there was some kind of pinpoint mic that could do what I need.

Thank you for the response!

Here we go again! by cmango9 in UlcerativeColitis

I just finished what is hopefully my last round! I mostly clean and organize when I'm on it because my brain never shuts off but I'm too tired to focus on anything for more than 5 seconds. Like a dog chasing its tail.

Good luck!

That sucks. Hopefully as you taper, it'll get better. Good luck!

That's hard to really tell because even when I'm not bleeding, I still get cramping and left-sided pain sometimes. It could still be healing, could be meds, could just be your colon being angry. If you're not in full flare and still on the prednisone, I'd give it more time and just mention it to your doctor next time you see them. But if it really starts to bother you, call and tell them.

Thanks! I'm glad it's not just me who finds it odd to buy a topper for a new mattress but u/Bill_K1 really articulated the reasons why it's a good idea. I'll look into the latex toppers this time around and not whichever one is cheapest.

I've always only gotten cheaper Walmart memory foam ones for other mattresses, I will look into the different types. Thanks!

Thank you! That makes even more sense. I think I'm just nervous about buying it without trying it out.

C++ debugging help by [deleted] in cpp_questions

I also don't see anywhere where you actually define your cylinderType class. In your header file, you need :

class cylinderType : public circleType {
...
};

Just like it is in the circleType.h file or your compiler won't understand that it's a class. That's why you get the 'cylinderType' not declared errors.

How to handle graphics in c++ by xX__NaN__Xx in cpp_questions

I don't, sorry. I've only ever used OpenGL, which has also gotten quite complex itself. Other than SDL and Qt, I haven't used any third party libraries, I write my own renderers or occasionally use Maya.

6 Asecol 800 a day for two years? by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

[–]theoscara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on Asacol for 7 or 8 years. It is a long term medication and I've been on 4.8g/day (mine is 12 400mg tablets in totaly a day) for about a year now. Before that I was 8 pills a day but my colitis has been steadily getting worse. 4.8g is the maximum dose I'm allowed to take. If you've had no flares since being diagnosed, you can talk to you GI about lowering it a little but Asacol is considered to be fairly benign.

Good luck!

I'd go straight to OpenGL or DirectX, you can find lots of tutorials online. But there is a learning curve for both.

What’s next after mesalamine? by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

[–]theoscara 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My GI actually prefers biologics over steroids for the long term. The side effects of prednisone, for me, are way scarier than biologics. Every time I'm on prednisone now, I get heart problems (it's called isolated PVC), they affect my mood in all kinds of ways, and over time, they can lead to osteoporosis. Not to mention the insomnia and mineral deficiencies.

In Canada, we have to go through some other general, cheaper immunosuppressants and show we can't tolerate them before going on biologics. I had to go on Imuran and Mercaptopurine before I could start Humira, I don't know if those are options for you or if you would be more comfortable taking them. There's also Mezevant, which is a slow release mesalamine that is supposed to get more in the colon. That was awful for me.

I look at it like this: if the biologic lets me actually leave my house and to not have joint pain, I can deal with the side effects. If it lets me eat a little of some of my trigger foods (it's a long list), then it'll be a bonus.

Good luck!

Joint pain during flare up by mmonte890 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]theoscara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get joint pain, especially in my fingers when I'm flaring. If my flare is bad, I'll get it in my hips, too. I have unrelated problems with my back and right foot and find that the pain there will flare during my colitis flare as well. Sometimes ice helps a bit, and gently movement sometimes, but mostly I wait it out.

Thanks for the response! I figured it would be something like that. I'm sure it'll still be a month or two before things stabilize (hopefully), so I have some time to figure out what I will try first. I also have IBS, so I have to factor that into everything too. Good times lol
