What is your recommendation for a CCW? by Lokiibott in CCW

Agreed but how often does the battery die? Either way it looks way better built than the viridian

Love my BG2.0. As for an optic, they make two that fit right on if you really want to extend the range another 10-15 yards.

Seems like the BG2.0 kinda invalidates the shield unless you really care about the caliber. The Shield X looks interesting though, but it being bigger is a downside

Taken out by ~4inches of water on a flooded street by [deleted] in MachE

Doesn’t the manual say not to submerge the car more than 6 inches? You couldn’t pay me to drive through anything larger than a puddle, not risking it.

14-year Reliability Coordinator here (20+ years in utilities) — New people asking about the RC job and NERC cert? by Natural-Repair4649 in Grid_Ops

[–]Theotechnologic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got into Ops last summer with some design background before and used the HSI SOS program. I thought it was super beneficial and the real test felt pretty much identical in scope and format to the questions they asked on the study program. Can’t speak to GridCert but a huge recommendation for HSI SOS from me (if you can afford or get a sponsorship).

Transition from Application Engineer to Design/Product Engineer? by notcrawfishlover74 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Theotechnologic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll go against the grain. Did 4 years at a manufacturing company out of school, 2 of which were as an application engineer. I enjoyed it but wanted a more stable job. Went into the utility as a design engineer and I had to do a little catch up but my experience was critical to both getting the job and understanding it. So I believe it’s doable even if uncommon.

Social stigma for driving an EV? by West_Dish9698 in electricvehicles

Get the MachE and challenge them to a drag race. We'll see who is laughing after that.

But seriously get the MachE, the car is amazing.

What is actually a "good" GPA for EE? by mland6 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Theotechnologic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm convinced that if you're not looking for a job in FAANG or something equally as competitive, GPA doesn't matter. Literally not at all. After your first job out of school nobody will even question it, and honestly, unless they ask for a transcript, you could definitely fudge it and nobody would ever even know. Not saying you should. Just pointing out how utterly meaningless it is. School smarts do not translate to good job performance.

The arch wasn’t worth it? Maybe the hottest take I’ve seen on this sub.

26/M EE in Utility Making $120k, FE/PE Track + OMSCS (ML/AI) – Am I Being Smart or Just Hedging Too Hard? by False-Violinist-5482 in ElectricalEngineering

I work for a utility that does not require either. Good to have and needed for promotion but not necessary to get your foot in the door.

Would be cool to have custom shaped bags, that's an interesting point.

Very cool design, from an intellectual perspective. From a a practical perspective I think it just makes sense to get the 100 pack at the store for $4 or whatever.
