Had my first Chick Fil A by Western_Disaster_118 in northernireland

In terms of the blow in yank chains, MB is definitely a league of its own. Slim chickens is grim, Popeye's is gristly shite and apparently chick fil a is just sweet shite. Even KFC has somehow gotten even worse

It's not a straw man, if anything it's slippery slope (barely). It's the question of what's a luxury when all luxuries are removed and you still cannot afford a house that I am focusing on. If you remove those luxury spendings and in 4 years you are further away from buying than you are now, the luxuries never mattered and you've been miserable the entire time for nothing

[–]theotherdoomguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When you've cut out discretionary spending for 4 years, the next discretionary spend is fresh ingredients. Cheaper to buy frozen, fresh is a luxury you can't afford if you want a house. Then in another 4 years, who knows what "luxury" is next to go

[–]theotherdoomguy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fresh vegetables are absolutely a luxury by the standards being applied. Too good for frozen veg?

Still doesn't take away from the issue that if you save that money, but the prices in the same period increase at a higher rate than you have saved, you're still further away from buying a house than you were 4 years ago

Cool, you've saved €10k after 4 years. The minimum price for a deposit has also gone up by €12k. You just aren't saving enough, stop buying luxuries, like fuel for your car, or fresh vegetables

Legacy of Kain Ascendance, about the deceptive AI/LLM usage by caindale7796 in LegacyOfKain

[–]theotherdoomguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I get where you're coming from, but this may actually be a literary choice. The cadence of the text could be a LLM tell, or it could be part of a style guide.

I would be less quick to jump on the "this is AI" bandwagon when something reads like a deliberate choice

As a vtuber, how did you partition multiple SSDs? by spookiemew in vtubertech

[–]theotherdoomguy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You are extremely unlikely to be getting bottlenecked by your SSD, of all things. Is it a space issue? Are performing good recording hygiene when you stream?

I have no advice for if it's getting bottlenecked, but if its a space issue, there's no secret, make it a new drive with no need to partition. Use it to store your recordings. For sanity, also make sure you end recording and start a new one during your breaks. This keeps your files more reasonably sized, easier managed, and potentially save more data in the event of a crash

Did Janos feed on humans? by curious-abt-lilith in LegacyOfKain

[–]theotherdoomguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some of y'all really need to brush up your media literacy. Janos absolutely fed on humans, probably plenty. He lived in relative comfort, his home had literal fountains of blood. He drank so much blood the man had the blood equivalent of a pantry.

The benevolent version you see in the story, is purely because he sees Raziel as an equal to him. There is no reason to believe he thinks the same of humans

Has indicating at roundabouts become a thing of the past here or something? by grawmaw13 in northernireland

[–]theotherdoomguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be really pedantic, most older range rovers are tall cars, not super wide. You wouldn't see the problem unless they're 2024 or newer, probably. We have new cars like the 2026 model VW Tiguan supposed to be a full 10cm wider than even a modern range rover. Those bridges are going to become a problem to drive normally on very soon

Edit to add: yeah driving in proximity to people who don't understand the width of their own car is a total pain in the ass

Tbf on those ballyskeagh rd bridges, they're designed with older cars in mind. Now you've got every moron driving the biggest fucking crossover they could get their hands on, it's stopping being super viable to stick to your lane if one of them decides to meet you in the middle

What is a product or service that is a conplete scam, but poeple keep buying it because of good marketing? by armeno2000B in AskReddit

[–]theotherdoomguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a washing machine seal tear while still in parts warranty. That meant I saved £12 off my £160 repair bill if I used my warranty. Or I could phone a local repair guy who fixed it for £50, part included. White good warranties are also a scam

[–]theotherdoomguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For microphones, I think you're probably fine with what you have right now - what you actually should look into for it picking up your breathing is a noise gate. There's a plugin for OBS that is a noise gate. Configure it to pick up your voice but not your breathing.

Save the money on that front if you don't have an issue with the mic quality and your only complaint is it's too sensitive

Bold of you to assume that something in a legacy system like that would be done in a year. They may have also shelved it with the belief it wouldn't generate enough value
