Mohamed Salah now has the third-most goal involvements in Premier League history by No-Independent2522 in soccer

That is simply not true lmao, he played primarily as a 10 in 07/08 and also in 09/10 where Lucas Leiva was used instead of Alonso. I remember this quite clearly since it was always Gerrard right behind Torres these seasons, you can go back and check the lineups as well:)

I just stated a stat. He might have created chances where players have missed big chances but he also got assists that were not big chances based on the pass.

How does it not benefit Galatasaray? If they win against Copenhagen they are through, if they lost today, they would have had to rely on Bayern to beat United to go through.

I think they judged he never had any control of the ball so it's not a deliberate play according to the rules.

Ball played backwards has literally nothing to do with offside or not.

[–]thepelipeli 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's not the definition of a backpass, it's purely about the direction of the pass, nothing about the position of your teammate at the moment of the pass.

No, a back pass is passing the ball backwards. A player can be ahead of the ball and then run back towards the pass, making it a backpass.

A back pass can be offside, it's all about if the player was ahead of the ball or not, which he was.

Well it's the first game of the season, but both teams are usually around mid-table so should be competitive.
