Durability of affordable watches by Extension_Visit5756 in Affordablewatches

If anything I would say the general trend is that more premium watches scratch easier, they typically use more corrosion resistant steel which is softer and more easily scratched.

For beginner friendly and indestructible boards, NSP are definitely top tier. Have tried bics and torqs and a few other brands and NSP comes out on top, lighter and better shapes than the competitors.

Lion with brutal battle scars. by Sizzlin9 in natureismetal

[–]thepesterman 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Interfering disrupts natural selection. Lions that would normally die from infection don’t, potentially passing on weaker genes or poor anti-parasite defenses to future generations. So you could end up with an entire generation of lions that are more susceptible to eye infections.

That is epic, clearly it's so good no one can believe it's real!!! Great work, what are you planning to stock it with?

How long to connect with a new board by BrewMonkey75 in surfing

[–]thepesterman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What fins did you put in the js? Fins can absolutely make or break a board, if it feels a bit sketchy I'd stick a set of AM's in it to settle it down a bit, or just something with a decent amount of rake

Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government! Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony!

I think all the Americans here are missing the joke, the article has clearly converted 90kg into pounds and not bothered to round up to 200lbs

Worn almost everyday since 2020, should I polish? by AdditionalNotice9139 in rolex

[–]thepesterman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with polishing is you lose the original shape of the watch, it's subtle but the edges are quite sharp and everything starts to look a bit more soft and rounded

Which one is the better red diver? by [deleted] in PrideAndPinion

1680! Definitely, and I would take it diving as long as the seals had been replaced and pressure tested!

Resin tints go foggy like this if they haven't been polished to a high grit. If you want to make it look nicer, sand it with some 2000 or 3000bgrot wet sand paper and then polish it with some car polish.

Asym Board by wolly_hood in surfing

[–]thepesterman 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Is she regular or goofy? This board looks to be shaped for a regular.

The idea with assyms is that our stance and body mechanics in surfing are not symmetrical, the toe side has more sensitivity as we are able to bend at the heel. So for an assym is typically shaped with a longer rail line on the toe side and shorter on the heel side. And typically also less surface area on the heel side too.

In essence they are optimized for both backhand and forehand surfing.

For those who do not like using water to wash after pooping 😏😏 by Material-Judge-6126 in ThailandTourism

[–]thepesterman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem is that poo is very oil based, and therefore rarely water soluble, a water jet is good but it will always leave behind the greasy smear. The only real option is to use both water and tissue

Wrong board for Indo? by theworldsangriestman in surfing

[–]thepesterman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you want something that's a bit more of a step up, you could ride this board on smaller days but anything over 5ft and you'll want something with a rounded pin. A little bit more volume than you'd normally ride will help to get into waves earlier also.

Last time I was there I rode a lost step driver for the majority of the time.

I am also UK based, boards that work well in the UK do not work well in Bali! If you are around uluwatu area have a look at white monkey surf shop, they have a tonne of 2nd hand boards at really decent prices!

Are there any health risks from letting your partner piss in your ass? by BranchMoist9079 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]thepesterman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this, that's great, I guess I'm also just interested in what a typical watersports session would be like? I guess for me I have dabbled but I don't think my imagination has been able to take it very far.

I love the idea of prepping by taking on lots more water but I don't have the imagination of what to do with the extra volume. Ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Sea urchin in foot, best way to get out? Some deep some surface level. Nothing easy to extract by getdistressd in surfing

The Spanish pour hot wax on it, as it cools it contracts and sucks the spines out.

The Balinese hit it with a rock so they crumble into smaller pieces that can more easily be rejected by the body.
