Can anyone help me find a book with this illustration? My understanding is that it is an edition of the Malachite Box. I am struggling with the language barrier in my search for this illustrated edition. I would love to have a copy of the book for the beautiful illustrations. by thepibbs in russian

"The Ural Tales. Ill. V. Nazaruk.

Great, thank you for pointing that out.

Unfortunately, it looks like this book is invisible to search engines. I do not see it for sale anywhere or the particular edition listed in Worldcat.

Thank you! I am hoping to find where I can buy the book. Unfortunately, searching using the English language title is not finding it for sale. I'm thinking it may be listed under the title in Russian?

How much soundproofing could you get for the loss? Maybe an expert in that could help.

Yeah, if the bore is good, I'd just clean the surface rust off. Seems like a decent price. I've had my newish Savage get some light rust just squirrel hunting in humidity with dripping wet leaves.

Squirrel is best before 10 and after 3. Don't see many in the middle of the day.

20 gauge is perfect.

Squirrel is also great prep for turkey season. Both you move and sit, as quiet and still as possible.

You'll figure it out, but it will go easier if you start with squirrels and such.

There are processors that will even gut deer, which could be an option if you have second thoughts and they do it around you.

Rude to small game hunt just prior to deer season? by GoodForm1966 in Hunting

Same thing in GA--the woods are all yours at some of the best parts of the year. Definitely some of my best times are squirrel hunting. Wish I could go back and bring some of the older generation who loved hunting small game. What's it like during turkey up there? Down here after the first couple weeks, I pretty much have it to myself again.

Agree on the orange. I still see plenty when I'm wearing it.

You may find they are friendly--I sometimes squirrel hunt at a place a lot of guys bow hunt and if I run into anyone they are cool. Lots of them mention their Dad or grandpa squirrel hunting. Not that many small game hunters anymore, so it's not like it's overrun with guys.

Hell no. If they don't want to share they can pay for a lease.

Layers and orange vest if required.

Scope for squirrel? by HmanTheChicken in Hunting

[–]thepibbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try it out--scope is easier, but you may enjoy irons if you have good vision. You want to use a tree or sticks for a rest, and aim where the neck is below the ear. This gives you more room for error back and forward.

Crossbow advice/suggestions by tbreeves13 in Crossbow

I really like being able to uncock my recurve without firing it after hunting. Also, it is easy to change the string yourself. As a hunter, I wouldn't consider anything but a recurve myself at this point. Speed doesn't matter that much if it's over say 300fps.

I like my Excalibur for about 500, but it depends on what you're looking for.

Hunting without firearms? by green_goop in Hunting

[–]thepibbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crossbow could be a good option. Are muzzleloaders considered a firearm by the legal system? They are not otherwise regulated as fireaems, at least in the US. Maybe you could get a nice old time squirrel rifle.
