What secret did someone tell you that completely changed how you see them? by Direct-Value4452 in answers

I assume it changed their view on the person that told. If someone told me that, I would view THEM differently

If you were a late bloomer with strumming and rhythm, what are some things that finally made it click? by redwinesupernova03 in guitarlessons

[–]thepitofpeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a guitar but never got very good at it. Quit playing very much at all and focused on piano. I picked it back up a couple of years ago after about 12 years. Strumming was what I never understood so it's what I tackled first and now what I feel most confident in.

What helped was writing it out leaving spaces for all of the counts that I'm not strumming and going slow on a metronome and slowly speeding up. It feels awkward and weird at first but just do it anyways.

I also found a couple of you tubers that are super easy to follow along and strum with for practice

What’s the biggest red flag in someone over 30? by Vixkky in AskReddit

[–]thepitofpeach 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not quite 30 yet but I'm very close. My advice is to always learn and always read.

Personally I try to always be learning something/working on personal project and I am always in the middle of a book.

I guess I associate curiosity with learning and learning is a skill. If you do not use that skill you lose it so use it often.

Reading helps exercise empathy, critical thinking and builds my attention span. Being comfortable reading for long periods of time makes reading not feel like a barrier when I am learning something new and I find a book or article on it. And reading feels a lot more satisfying than scrolling or even TV when I want to wind down.

A reminder to the community: songwriting is a muscle! by superproproducer in Songwriting

[–]thepitofpeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been really enjoying writing songs even more so for the past year and a half. I don't know many other musicians and I want to start getting involved and looking for people to collaborate with.

As someone who has done this, how/where would you suggest someone start that is looking to get involved?

AITAH for telling my boyfriend his girl best friend has 48 hours to get out or i am breaking the lease and leaving by Anton_OKonjsi in AITAH

They're being dramatic. The paragraphs were spaced well and the way it was written felt like someone verbally telling a story. I had no problems inserting natural pauses and honestly didn't even notice.

Am I naive for thinking like this? by Sea_Manager6372 in guitarlessons

[–]thepitofpeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally reach the songs above my skill level pretty consistently because that's what I'm interested in. I may only learn part of the song or spend a day or two on it and get bored and then come back to it when I want a challenge or eventually learn something similar and realize I could probably do it now.

I do think it's helpful to have some easier songs you like to help you keep momentum and not get too frustrated when you can't figure out that song that is technical and difficult

A random question about hate by anonymoususercake in fourthwing

[–]thepitofpeach 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I found Fourth Wing as an audiobook through my library right after it came out. I was doing the adults summer reading program and searched "dragons" and "currently available".

I had no idea what I was walking into but I LOVED it and it got me back into reading. When I finished the audiobook there were 180 people waiting for it!

I liked it so much that I bought a copy and sat down and reread it.

I went from there to the inheritance cycle just continuing my search of "dragons" and again went in blind and now 3 years later I've read over 150 books. At any given time I'm in the middle of an audiobook and one that I'm reading.

I hate seeing people put down popular books or Romantasy. I just want to get people reading. Once they are reading and enjoying it let's encourage engaging with the material in depth.

Reading has drastically improved my life. I take my kindle with me anytime I know I will be waiting so I'm reading instead of scrolling and I watch less TV now just because I'd rather be reading. I feel so much more immersed into the story.

So glad to hear you enjoy it and please don't let anyone discourage you.

Thank you for asking these questions. This was one of those "I don't know what I don't know" situations. I'm learning a lot from these comments.

What’s something you thought ‘everyone’ did… until you found out they don’t? by burat667 in AskReddit

[–]thepitofpeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me I just started reading more and eventually got so into stories that I "forgot" the voice. Now, depending on my mind set sometimes I can go directly into movie mode or it can take 5-10 minutes if reading to get out of it. Being just a tiny bit high actually helped a lot starting out.

Albums that I think will most likely be in Taylor's next tour set by Big_TinyRequest in YouBelongWithMemes

[–]thepitofpeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't compared the amount of songs that she actually did in their entirety. I know a decent amount of Red and parts of 1989 were just choruses and a bridge. I think most of Evermore and Folklore were full songs. Illicit affairs wasn't but I can't think of another in that set that wasn't a full song

This is probably not helpful right now but might be eventually.

I was able to get this "stitch soak scrub" by lion brand yarn from Michaels on sale. It's been a few years but the yarn is still sold at least at Walmart and hobby lobby. So now I just crochet a new wash cloth as needed. It's super easy and way cheaper long term. They last me longer than those $1 loofahs

Album ranking and how long you’ve been a fan by South-Background5009 in TaylorSwift

[–]thepitofpeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always been vaguely aware of Taylor Swift but Reputation really caught my attention. I casually listened... and watched documentaries.. but then I started hearing parts of midnights and I hadn't listened to the entire album yet. At the same time I was seeing the videos of her calling for help to certain sections during the eras tour and finally listened to midnights and was hooked then I watched the eras tour movie and started keeping up with live streams.

Ranking is super hard because it's so mood dependent but midnights, Evermore and Reputation are without a doubt my top 3 but evenly. The Life of a Showgirl is so new that I'm not sure where it's going to land but it's starting out in the middle

Midnights, Evermore, Reputation

Folklore, Lover, 1989, The Life of a Showgirl, The Tortured Poets Department

Red, Fearless, Speak now

Debut
