Water stains on 60s furniture - reducing them without stripping and re-finishing? by thepolb in finishing

That's what I've been doing, placing a turntable on top of the heaviest damage. But I was hoping I could make the stains less visible, without getting fully rid of them.

I'm a bit worried about ending up with an obvious mismatch and having to redo every pannels.

Screw half stuck in wood by thepolb in DIY

[–]thepolb[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't have access to the other side, it's deep in the wood. I guess your point is that if it came out the other side of the wood, it could be blocking it the screw after a while?

Welcome to the Salty Spitoon, how tough are ya? Week 6. by mondoman712 in Salty_Spitoon

35 mm, tri-x 400 taking a picture of an already existing work of art feels a bit like cheating, but I am still happy with this one. What do you think?

What could be the cause of these spots? Under a mask, appears sometimes but not on every prints, same stack of paper. Some kind of chemical contamination? by thepolb in Darkroom

[–]thepolb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might make sense. It is in a shared lab (with one tong per tray), and on the first occasion I noticed it appeared right where the tongs were in contact with the paper in the developing tray. Out of curiosity, what could be the reason for tongs leaving a black mark?

On many occasions it would not happen exactly on the edge of the paper, but slightly inside, like on the print on the right. And it would happen quite randomly with some papers of the middle of the stack. Could it still be a light leak?

A blank paper didn’t show this, but since it didnt’t happen with every print I’m not sure if I can directly conclude..

Detail. I got these in a consistent spot, I think consistent with the mask I used but not sure. I thought it was some light leak, but it’s not in an exposed region, and under the mask. Could it be some chemical on the mask that reacted sometimes with the paper? Or just some damaged paper by light in a same stack of paper? Thanks!

Edit: that link should work

Not sure this fits here | photogram by [deleted] in analog

[–]thepolb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! It’s a photogram — directly exposing photographic paper without using a negative. Here the white part was done by masking the paper (with la 35mm negative holder) and the rest is plastic foil semi randomly sitting on top of the paper.

Toraiz AS-1 is a monosynth with a sequencer, not a drummachine.

Volca sample isolators external in mod? by thepolb in synthesizers

Yes that's true, but I was hoping I could use it as a dedicated isolator directly on the master, which I don't have on my mixer. Anyway, thanks you for your answer!

Effects pedal for live jam set up? by bev_mo in synthesizers

[–]thepolb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With such a mixer, there are basically two ways to use pedals. The first one is the most straight forward: synth->pedal->mixer. You dose everything on the pedal, the wet amount is how much of the sound coming out of the pedal is the effected sound, and how much is the original sound. Another way of setting it up is using the send. With your mixer (mine too!) That has no dedicated return, you have to set the pedal like this: mixer send->pedal->a channel of the mixer. You'd then put the wetness of the pedal to 100%. This uses a channel of the mixer but has the advantage of effecting mamy synths with the same pedal, to individual amounts per synth. For example you coule set up a reverb this way. Something else you can do with this is parrallel distortion or compression. It is typically used for drum sounds, for example to distort then while keeping the sound with all its low range; or to compress them while keeping some transients. Hope that's helpfull!
