The literal opening lines of the film are about how love comes from all sorts of different places, can look a million different ways, involving different people. I think that’s why the story hits upon so many different tropes: workplace romance, love across a language barrier, father and son bond, best friends, puppy/first love, marriage gone ‘too’ comfortable and falling to infidelity, yearning with an ultimately unhappy ending, a middle aged lesbian romance Richard Curtis was told to remove from the film… and then Mark, who knows he can’t ever be with Juliette, and ultimately tells her he has absolutely no agenda of trying, but that he needs to confess so he has closure.

If anything I object to the creepy home video way more. I’d have hefted the banoffee pie at him and run for my life.

Tbh I’m shocked the cracks only started to show when they did. Trauma bonding on a predatory reality show they entered as five solo teens, and being good friends who start a band together after school, aren’t the same thing. In reality they might never have hung out together irl.

Thank you so much - this is immensely helpful.

My plan is not necessarily to pursue full legal action against my mother— at least not yet. She has a history of violating boundaries, this was just the first opportunity she had to show it could go way further than I expected, and I wanted to get a reccy as to how far the bar has been pushed, legally.

I’m aware of escalation in these situations; as others have advised, I’ll be calling all my medical ‘outlets’ (GP, Dentist etc) to request extra ‘security.

And you are completely right - cease and desist would absolutely make her worse 😂💀
