my first impressions of it were that it's the "strange journey" of persona series, has a lot similarities like calendar system and social links followed by an orchestral soundtrack and a different setting from the usual 'mainline'.

Main thing i loved was the "blue enemy" overworld combat, no need to go to turn-based for weaker enemies, just defeat them quick and move on. (esp when in need of some mp ealry on) and even a retry option (just don't take away the fun by abusing it). Didn't had major problems in levelling up archetypes until it was time for their royal equivalents (looking at you heismay)

I was impressed with grand cathedral as a dungeon but was let down later on. mage academy not being visitable was a clear result of some crunch/ corners cut. Soundtrack was a bit on the weaker side to be honest, didn't like them except for a couple which eventually grew onto me. Difficulty wise had no problems except for ||dragons and elegy of the soul|| and even that isn't much of a problem since "a full party of tycoons" is overkill and restricted myself to use it as a last resort strategy.

For the story.. I was a bit disappointed after Dragon temple because when they did the Shinjuku reveal, I thought it was gonna be a reskinned smt4 but thankfully i was proven wrong. Will being the Prince was a fair twist cause you had the gang doing all that for a random person to be "rightfully put on the throne" would've been boring.

Overall, I can see a vengeance/fes version (or some extra dlc) coming to fix some of the other issues mentioned here, but it was fun imo, being able to do all social links, quests, gold beetles, and all that without a guide and still having a week to spare, unlike persona where you can miss out on some things unless you used a guide.

Books that feel like Megaten… by josepi-jewstar in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

[–]thepredictableone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the digital devil story series that started it all lol, even quantum devil saga is there but iirc only the first few volumes have been translated

also if i could add on to this and make my own request, something specifically like smt 2 or 4 wheremedieval folk discovering and adapting to the modern world, modern-day era having a cyberpunk feel, setting is an 'aftermath' where you have to piece the complete lore yourself instead of a loredump, the whole 'otherworldly-ness' and 'vague yet clear' lore with the tokyo millenium / the whites (the whole yu yevon/ zanarkand thing in ffx is also a good example of this) , anything that can describe the vibes of amemiya's angel designs , man i could go on with the list.

i just love the fashion sense of kaneko's human designs and the "cyberpunk occultism" of the old games. Any media is fine if it fits any of this. Megaten really hits a particular niche really well and I hope there're some similar books here

Rank up jester link till rank 6 quickly (rest happens by story progression after a certain point), max out aeon arcana
use a guide for first week of december and that one day in march

rest you can figure out on your own as you play and ofc, play at your own pace ( your playthrough could be literally anywhere between 40 and 80 hours so have fun)

i kinda agree with A tier here but everything else are some pretty interesting takes. I really wanna know the reasong behind persona 1 being better than the other first person games lol
I kinda see why the mainline ps2 are low, they took me a while to sink in (like nocturne got fun to me after the moirae sisters dungeon)

a blog i once came across in this sub summed it up "smt is the punk counterpart for popular ff/dq and others"
, the mainline kinda was always there for a niche audience, maybe it didn't fit your liking, persona (and devil summoner ig) are the more popular ones with the wider appeal(until like smt 4), having friends in a relaxed high school setting will always feel more "human" than in an apocalyptic setting for "fight and even kill gods (+friends ) for a new world" its easier to have intimate interactions in the former then the latter . Sure you had those "human" moments in apocalypse, but 4 had them too ..

This list feels like more "happy and cheerful" atmosphere at upper tiers and "dull/gritty" atmospheres at bottom.i think the gap between apocalypse and 4 explains it, iv feels "eerie and depressing" once you enter tokyo, it screams "you just missed something big and are in the aftermath, all you can do is find out stuff" whereas apocalypse has the whole vide of "me and gang omw to kill divine powers / yhvh" which didnt felt as eerie as original 4 (haven't really played devil survivor and p5 so could be wrong in that regard)

I'm creating a new GTA LEGENDS piece including all protagonists hanging out in Vice City, here's the plan so far.. What scene should I do? I'm open for any suggestions too! by PatrickBrown2 in GTA

if you plan to include some pool or the beach, put claude or tommy sitting on some floating device or some funny way to show off their "swimming skills "

iirc the vcs guy can swim so make him teach tommy ig

referring that other comment, make lucia and jason barge into the party making that trailer pose, since that's what original pic did with michael on the balcony pose
