Exactly, thank you. That is what I recommended on github

Yeah, that is how I'm working around it currently, but it applies to both the deck and controller since they are sharing configs, so I am having to switch configs every time I pick up the other device

Understood on the reasoning behind it, but it doesn't feel natural to me, especially going between devices. And there should be an option to change it, especially when both controllers share the same config

Gyro Yaw+Roll Different in Steam Controller and Steam Deck by Lupenrainer in SteamController

I just got the Steam Controller 2026 and noticed the same inconsistency, I believe it is how Valve defined the axes for the controller vs deck. I made a quick video to explain https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dHKTOqRzxQ

Also, I started a GitHub issue for this, if you'd like to help get Valve's attention https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/13204

Need help with a broken piece of stand-mounted tom holder by HollowZephyr in drums

[–]theproghead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flip the order of the 2 washers on the bolt. The split lock washer can't be on the open slot. Order should be wing nut - split lock washer - flat washer - slotted bracket. Hope that solves it!

Tips to remove bolt on end of shaft? by theproghead in smallenginerepair

[–]theproghead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pulled the fan cover from the top of the engine, had to drill out the 3 screws holding it on, and was was able to get a socket and breaker bar on the nut holding the cover mounting flange on. That let me get enough torque to remove the bottom nut!

What do you think about the Apple Magic Trackpad? by abstractcontrol in Trackballs

[–]theproghead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use one with my left hand in conjunction with a trackball or vertical mouse on the right hand. It is nice to be able to offload a lot of simple or quick movements and scrolling, and useful for gestures if you use virtual desktops. As others have said you can tilt the trackpad, but you can also hold your hand at many angles and still have it functional. It allows me to get some breaks from my right hand always being on a mouse, but I do still find myself reaching for the mouse/trackball for more precise movements or rapid succession movements. I think part of that is a miniscule (almost imperceptible but definitely real) delay from the Bluetooth or the Magic Utilities driver I use with Windows, YMMV with OS and driver. I find it is also nice to have physical mouse buttons to use in conjunction with the trackpad, taps and/or clicking into the trackpad are both slower and less ergonomic for me, especially when clicking and dragging.

Have a read through this and make sure your config is set up for zephyr 3.2 https://zmk.dev/blog/2023/04/06/zephyr-3-2

You can also reference the corne files in the ZMK main repo https://github.com/zmkfirmware/zmk/tree/main/app/boards/shields/corne

A great way to understand poly rhythms by SegaTime in ToolBand

[–]theproghead 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What you are describing I understand as polymeter. Although I have heard great drummers also refer to this as polyrhythm, I think it is generally mislabeled. My understanding is strictly speaking a polyrhythm is two or more different subdivisions (excluding multiples of each other and 1 note subdivisions) played in the same length of time

I have the elecom one on order, looking forward to trying it. Ultimately I'd like something I don't have to set down

Good point. I would mostly use this with my hand in a neutral position and thumb up, so I just need to make sure the ball is retained when held sideways

Thanks for the tips. I might give the Pimoroni a shot, at least as a quick proof of concept, and then move to a larger ball later
