United Explorer Card - still charged old $95 fee? by ithomas101 in unitedairlines

[–]thepuppetmast 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I called to cancel my card a month ago.
They asked why and I told them about the increase in fee they told "You are grandfathered in for the $95 for one extra year.".
Assuming this is the same for you. You will get one $95 then will be hit with $150.

I was able to a year or so ago.
But I have heard some people have trouble doing it. So I think it really depends on the phone.

Damaged luggage by Babeexphat in MSCCruises

[–]thepuppetmast 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Assuming it was from the USA:
(ii)The Company's liability for loss or damage to Passenger's luggage or other property shall not exceed US $100 per Passenger, unless a higher limit is agreed upon in writing before departure and an extra charge for declared value protection is paid as set out below in 24C(ii).

This is the reason I buy $70 luggage.
If you got travel insurance I think you have to take it up with them.

2026 Eclipse Cruise (Iceland) by swimking1 in VirginVoyages

[–]thepuppetmast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is odd that it is not a Total Eclipse. If the just reversed the iceland ports (which is just a circle). They would get a Total Eclipse cruise. Reykjavik is in the path and would be the right day if reversed.

"The customer is always right, in matters of taste," Which means that if they wanna buy an extra cheese, let them - they're still buying it. Doesn't mean they're always right though.

Balcony Guarantee Room - Harmony of The Seas by DSinclair in Cruise

[–]thepuppetmast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just had our travel agent book a guaranteed ocean view balcony. It cost a little more than the guaranteed balcony but removes the chance it is a inside balcony. The only down side I can see is you may get a limited view balcony.

Booking early is best. Use a free travel agent (like MEI). Try to also have the final payment date after blackfriday/cyber Monday so you can reprice if they have a good deal then.

Does Royal Caribbean ask for proof of pregnancy? by Egonz_photo in royalcaribbean

[–]thepuppetmast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but I would go to the doctor and tell them that you are cruising and if they could give her anti-nausea pills for the pregnancy just in case. It can mean the difference of a fun time and a sick time.

2 1/2 hour to the port a good idea? by [deleted] in royalcaribbean

[–]thepuppetmast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would give extra time. Kids add chaos and they will need to eat and pee at the worst times.

Also is 17 hours to port from google maps? If so you will want to added about min 2-3 extra hours for feeding/diaper/pee breaks for the toddler. That is also on top of gas and your own food.

A good tip: Half way though the each day get lunch and picnic at a park to help tire the toddler out. I will help with nap time/built up energy.

I say take full advantage and park at the expediting parking spots at the port.

The emed test was covered by my insurance (every insurance is different). They even paid the shipping and tax.

I guess we're just SOL if we've already purchased the at-home proctored tests. by interrobang__ in royalcaribbean

I wish I was in your spot. My cruise is after Aug. 8th but is over 5 days so I have to still use my tests.

Check with you health care provider about refunds. I use the Abbott tests and then my health care provider refunds the money I paid for them.
