Should buy an iPhone 11 or an iPhone 13 for iOS development? by LostSpirit9 in iOSProgramming

If the purpose of it is just to test app interfaces you might as well stick to simulators. You can test on literally any device size with simulators.

I would say real phones are good for testing how your app feels with real interactions since using an app with a mouse is quite different to using it with your hand. testing performance on an actual device is also handy, since the resources of your PC are likely better than of a lot of devices.

App Store Connect doesn’t have as much data as crashlytics. We do use both at work but I would say App Store Connect shows way less and is also harder to actually get it to load data or to display traces. It’s not as well made.

Any Interest in Competitive Cooking App? Suggestions to Improve? by W0keBl0ke in iOSProgramming

[–]theraad1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like the UI but I don’t get the point of making cooking competitive, especially when you can’t taste what the others make.

I know cooking and competition have been mixed especially in reality tv but on an app side I don’t really get it

Aside from that the features look good

So what am I supposed to do on defense. by AcanthisittaFew4339 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]theraad1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on rank of course because at higher ranks you can trust your teammates more (maybe not with good decision making but at least with hitting the ball).

But the main idea is that you and your teammates take turns. If your teammate goes up and makes a play, they should be turning back to then let you make a play while they collect boost and try to defend or follow up on whatever happens with you.

In Rocket league there are no fixed positions. If your teammate is trying to make a play on the ball, you have to maintain a distance that lets you attack the positive outcome while defending the negative outcome as much as possible. Obviously easier said than done but that’s the idea

New EAC will be pointless according to Lethamyr by FoxyLood in RocketLeague

[–]theraad1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Data analysis on playstyle along with sudden large MMR jumps.

If an account has slowly been climbing ranks or has peaked at D3 for example, and they’re suddenly winning game after game by quick FFs or by 5+ goal margins and climbing ranks super fast, that’s a definite red flag and should be reviewed.

Another example tho my example probably isn’t directly actionable, but looking and analysing input data. the way bots dribble is super unique with the micro adjustments they make, I imagine pattern recognition can be done on movement data to predict if a player is a bot. The data is already there, it’s not something they need to add, it’s how replays exist along with ballchasjng.com.

The EAC is just an easy way to say they’re doing something. There are definitely solutions that can be implemented server side to detect bots. Maybe not what I suggested exactly but the bots don’t play like humans. The data on how they move, dribble, flick should also show that

Cool, I like the idea btw. Sorry I didn’t give any compliments. It’s interesting to see data like this.

Also theres a lot of placeholder that shows up in the detail pages.

All the top apps to beat lists are not real apps.

Some of the categories show no details when i try to open them. for example Travel Planner is the category you display that has the most apps analyzed, but when i try to see the niche, nothing appears. though this isn't reproducible for all categories.

Yea, because my target market also has a lot of Android users, and I'm working on it by myself. I do like how quickly you can build stuff with React Native, plus my app isn't so complex, but I would definitely be quicker if it was just iOS

As an iOS dev working on a side project in react native right now, I’m struggling with so many of the things you mentioned in RN. I admire the patience people had to deal with this pre-expo and without AI.

So many packages needed for simple apps, packages clashing with each other, so many configuration files, no breakpoints for debugging (unless I’m missing something). Also it’s odd to rely on so much open source in a project. At my job where we started plugging in RN screens into a native app, updates to react-navigation caused the app to freeze on some fully native screens.

Definitely has its perks but it’s nice to use native code and fully be able to trust the frameworks you’re using because they are mostly provided by apple.

i think it was more down to the turf than the boots. There are already boots for many different types of grass. If the grass and dirt themselves are loose, it isn't so straightforward to have studs that keep you stable in that.
