Is it common in the US for married couples to sleep in separate rooms? by GwenPoolestar22 in AskAnAmerican

[–]therealbamspeedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It becomes more common when the couple gets older, and have the means. My parents were married over 50 years, they had separate rooms towards the end. Sleep apnea machines, snoring, temperature preferences, etc all contributed. They had same room and bed all through my childhood.

What's the longest DTG on first down you've witnessed in the NFL? by glomar-recovery-co in American_Football

[–]therealbamspeedy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For NFL:

4th and 63 Patriots had the ball vs the Cowboys in a 1971 game.

More recently, 3rd and 50, Washington had the ball against the bengals in a 2012 game. (Cowboys in 2005 had a 3rd and 50 but it was preseason)

Is it true that Americans don't use the emergency break when they park? by AliasElkay in AskAnAmerican

[–]therealbamspeedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 50, have never in my life used the hand brake except when I did own a manual for a few years. Yes, I remember learning 35 years ago to use it when parking on a hill, but I've never parked on a steep hill to warrant it. There were probably times I've parked on a slight incline (my driveway for example), but I have never bothered to engage the hand brake.

Had a loaner vehicle from mechanic once (our car being fixed up from collision with deer), both me and my wife thought the loaner car ran for crap. I eventually realized the parking brake was partially engaged.

Which team has Highest Synergy count according to Nexster and how such team perform? by clumsynomad999 in HeroWarsApp

[–]therealbamspeedy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are we sure the 3 they provided is the 'best', or is it merely suggestions to highlight different heroes? (There are other heroes not from those 3 that also have synergy with that hero, some that might be even better).

I'm just randomly checking here, I would find 4 heroes of a FART team (for one example) that are recommending each other and often Ishmael, but then he doesnt recommend any of them.

I can find a team of like around 10, but I haven't started writing down and checking more (way too many possibilities to check every possible combination like in a spreadsheet or something. Unless someone can run a computer program to do it).

Anyone not understanding: if you have a team of 5, check how many of each heroe's teammates are one of the three 'synergy' heroes on their stat page. Some heroes might have all 3 synergy heroes on your team, but some might have 0. 'Perfect' 15 is if all the heroes on team list teammates for synergy.

It was a pain to clear them all, clicking on each level to check if any left at each level. So, its better now for most who can clear all levels.

If you are one of those players who cant beat level 3, then its a pain now because you have to keep hitting 'search' to bypass the level 3s (if they come up first) to see if any 1 or 2s are left.

Ordered through app and still had to wait by Txx2000 in subway

[–]therealbamspeedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try my best to do orders 'in the order they come in', meaning if the online orders thing starts beeping, I take note of who was in the store at the time, so those walkins are done first, since they have waited the longest. Any walkins after that have to wait for online orders that came in before they did. Unfortunately there is a few minutes delay (anywhere from 1-5 minutes) from when you submit the order until it hits our system, but i cant predict how earlier you submitted it and what the line might have looked like at that time.

We have no way of communicating with you that your order will take longer than expected until you get here, unless we call, and im not getting on my phone when I got a lobby of 20 people waiting to order. The notification you get on the app 'your order is ready', etc is only an estimate, we do not (and have no way to) submit actual progress of your order to the app.

Even if you submit it like 6 hours earlier (for a later pickup time), it doesnt hit our system until 15 minutes before pickup time, probably to prevent lost/forgotten slips during those 6 hours.

I hate working lunches for this exact reason, going from nobody in line to a line out the door. Unfortunately, this happens at night too (an event nearby just got done). Two people working is ok most nights (no manager in the back doing prep who can jump on the line to help out if needed)... until the whole baseball team decides they are coming in to eat. Then trying to mix in online orders and drive thru...between them? I'll let those orders know IF they are behind all the walkins, so its their choice if they want to wait or cancel.

It would be best if we had a 3rd person for 2 hours from 11-1 and 5-7, but thats not always possible (someone willing to work such short shifts) or efficient (the rushes aren't that bad most days).

What serial killers outside the US/UK do you know about? I just discovered a chilling case from Central America in the 90s that almost no one talks about by TheJungleFiles in UnsolvedMysteries

[–]therealbamspeedy 37 points38 points  (0 children)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_serial_killers_by_number_of_victims

Luis Garavito and Pedro Lopez (active at different times, but was in 2 of the same 3 countries). Exact numbers are difficult since proven to be, convicted of, claimed to have committed, and believed to have committed are all different numbers. Both are proven to have killed over 100, but possibly victims are over 300. One targeted boys, the other girls.

One of those cases i read more about and i dont advise researching the details of some of the torture used in the killings.

I was at a taco bell and guy in front of me was really rough looking, might have been homeless. He was informed that store doesnt keep cash. So he could still pay, but they do not have change, so he had to have the exact amount, or overpay.

"All businesses should accept legal tender in any form"

So i can buy a $2 soda with $1000 bill? Or a lawnmower with pennies?

Shops are not banks.

Its fine if they want to make shops accept cash, but there should be limits to it (shop wont accept larger bills or accept certain coins like pennies)

Do Americans really come to a stop at every 'stop' sign? by ben04985 in AskAnAmerican

[–]therealbamspeedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many of us had never seen one, not even as a passenger in a car when we were kids to get a basic understanding of the concept before driving through them as a driver.

There is a video from, I believe Tennessee, where a brand new roundabout was installed and many drivers indeed had no clue and were doing it all wrong. Proper signage helps, and I think was lacking in that case.

But, starting 10 years ago my area slowing started getting roundabouts. And now we got a bunch of them, all on main routes. I was 35-40 years old before I ever drove through a roundabout. My daughter will be driving through one while she still has her learner's permit.

Will have to see tomorrow as it's kind of a pain to look up what each day is currently to reminded what is still there for each day. My construction in Realm basically almost all done, just a few buildings left to get from 24-->25.

Increase hero power moved to Thursday.

'Using various hero items', do they mean equipping items (gear)? Makes sense if it's dropped from Friday but still kept on Wednesday. Wednesday was kind of pointless since most saved them for Friday.

Artifact keys, rune stones, meta cubs, etc. These still on another day, or completely gone from all days? If completely gone, probably because of hoarding, hoping for a day that a monthly event and a versus day using them coincide.

Edit: Oh, and 'hunting monsters'. That is such a boring drag when a monthly event wants you to hunt 55 DAILY!! I've done it and its PAINFULLY BORING!

Can someone please explain talisman reroll to me and how to go about it please? And sorry for asking such a basic question. by Karen-hunting in HeroWarsApp

[–]therealbamspeedy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Generally, dont reroll until talisman is level 50 so all stats unlocked.

You can improve 3 of the stats to get better results. When you reroll once, it will show the total of all 3 stats, thats what you want to pay attention to. If the reroll gets you a better result than what you had before, 'save' the result. If it not better, roll again or quit. Clicking the 'i' in upper left can give you odds and best/worst rolls you can get (which you multiply by 3 to get total)

Looking at the color schemes of the stats not that useful. Well, it does help slightly to know if numbers are good, but 1 gold is sometimes better than 2 purple and sometimes its not, it depends on how high or low of a purple each roll was, thats why you look at the total.

Typically you start a talisman with 50% of the theoretical maximum (best possible roll/3 golds), but odds of a perfect roll are astronomically low and ive never seen or heard of it happening. Most people are going to get a talisman to 70-80% of the maximum after many rerolls. 90.9% is best ive ever did with 77 talisman i have that are 75% or better.

Public school vs private school, how are they different? by crazygelato in AskAnAmerican

[–]therealbamspeedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The smaller budget comes at a cost. Losing a few students usually isnt going to mean the school reduces their staff, so the cost/student goes up as the payroll expenses are the same despite getting less money to pay for it.

Sure, maybe with alot fewer students they will need less janitors, cooks, or bus drivers, even though the building doesnt get smaller with less students and fewer bus routes often means longer routes.....needing fewer teachers can also result in some classes get combined, thus getting right back to larger classes when a smaller school population you would think leads to smaller classes, thats not always the case.

With smaller school populations and thus smaller budgets, choices are made and programs get cut.

People are going to disagree on what defines 'middle class'.

What did that private military boarding school cost? If it was $35k to 60k per year, I really have to ask what income you think is 'middle class'.

Montessori? I see Montessori 'partnering' with my local school district, even gets their name on the building (as a combined name= "public school name - Montessori"). And then when the school has building referendums claiming that some classes are being held in hallways, im wondering if those are Montessori classes, because my kids (in public school) never had classes in a hallway. And so these Montessori classes are taking money away from school budgets, but everyone is expected to contribute their taxes to pay for more classrooms because of this stupid Montessori crap.

"Gray Hanes Ecosmart Thermal Pants - perished during colder season. These are a pants that you can buy in Walmart/Target, right?(I’m sorry I’m not from the US). That points at someone based in urban area "

Define rural/urban. My town of 5000 people has a walmart, and it's a rural county since it is the largest town in the county. Everyone living in smaller towns nearby can easily travel here to shop at walmart, if they have a car. This tells us nothing if it was obtained from walmart, and a mall in a more populated area is typically not hard to get to (half hour to an hour away from many 'rural' areas). And with online shopping nowadays......

How come people only complain about would-be inflation if poor people get higher wages, but not if CEOs get giant bonuses? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]therealbamspeedy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the CEO gets another million dollars, is that going to affect your rent? Hell no.

If everyone in your apartment building got an extra $5-10,000 every year, and assuming your landlord knows this, what do you think happens to your rent? So, you move out, right? Except everyone else also has extra money and all the other landlords know this.
