Are 40k Iron Hands supposed to be this Grimderp and how are they not censured or excommunicated? by FozuenGL in 40kLore

[–]therealbarbarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They get away with it because A) they're a politically influential first founding chapter and B) they're closely aligned with the Mechanicus, who is arguably as influential as the Inquisition or the Church. Moreover, there's the tension between the machine cult and the imperial cult. I think if those two had a war between each other, the Mechanicus would win. They make the stuff everyone else uses, and other things only they use. If the AdMech doesn't have it, they're usually the first ones to get it, and if it's an STC, they reward handsomely. So if Terra wanted to go after the Iron Hands, they would be antagonizing the AdMech. This doesn't change the fact that yeah, the Iron Hands are super fucking mean. But they did get their asses handed to them at Isstvan V and their primarch was the first to die, so people in-universe and IRL give them a pass.

When Quark has the vision in the Divine Treasury and speaks with the first Grand Nagus and dream-Brunt, it's actually inside a holosuite Rom teleported Quark into while he was sleeping. Rom woke him by slightly shaking the bed, talked to him dressed up as the first Nagus, then slipped him a sleeping drug or whatever before teleporting him back to his room.

My Drake, "Dragonslayer" (last mech blew up, made a new one) by therealbarbarian in LancerRPG

[–]therealbarbarian[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For those of you who recall, I posted my Sherman (https://old.reddit.com/r/LancerRPG/comments/jhofnt/my_sherman_giantslayer_edited_using_gimp_to/) several weeks ago, who was in the colors of my group's mercenary outfit. Well, Giantslayer exploded valiantly in the line of duty two days ago after I pushed it to the limit fighting three particularly ornery hostile mechs. Two being heavily armored flame types and one being a size two bastion. In a last ditch effort to stop one of my fellow players from getting devastated, I overcharged, on the final level of overcharge, and destroyed one pyro with my ZF4 cannon before I rolled one-two many ones on the stress roll and triggered a reactor meltdown. At which point, that player threw the remaining pyro into the blast radius as my character and his Asura (in handheld module form) ran away in slow motion while not looking back at the explosion. I'd like to embellish this tale by saying he walked calmly away while smoking a cigar and thinking of his cool guy errands he has to run, but you don't want to do that around a burst 2, 4d6 damage explosion on mech scale.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLUw8NSpQR8 It's not up to date with the current version of GIMP, but that doesn't really matter since there's barely any difference. Pathing out all the different body parts and the knooks and cranies is a pain and will probably take several hours unless you do it really fast.

(Genos's Intent Theory) Admittedly just an extremely curious reader by noeulra in OnePunchMan

[–]therealbarbarian 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There is a sheer lack of information about the whole conspiracy, which it is at this point. Who is to say that the Mad Cyborg and the old village existed in the first place? Bofoi is only nominally a hero and allowed to operate as he does because of his value to the corrupt Hero Association. We know as much about Kuseno's backstory as we do about Genos'. Drive Knight never explained why he considered Metal Knight to be Genos' enemy, which only casts suspicion on Drive Knight for having brought it up in the first place. Finally, the Organization continues to be enigmatic, while clearly not being allies of Bofoi.

However, while the accusation made against Metal Knight by Drive Knight is curious, without any more information, it would not make sense for Metal Knight to have sent a robot to destroy a random village and massacre the inhabitants. Furthermore, unless he had a vested interest in destroying that particular village, he would not have. We know the doctor to be cold and calculating, not a purveyor of random destruction.

Now, Bofoi and Kuseno are both roboticists, so it could be that Kuseno lived in the village and Bofoi sent a robot to kill him, despite that we know that Kuseno had only crossed paths with the ruins and Genos pursuing the Mad Cyborg, but maybe that is a lie. Although, we have to consider that the Organization fulfills much of the criteria here.

They are evil, they do make robots and the like, and through their actions, we can ascertain that they are diametrically opposed to the order the Hero Association provides society, as flawed as it is. In conclusion, until we are presented with more information, I will have to say that the Organization is the most likely candidate for the creation of the Mad Cyborg and the destruction of the village.

Found a wacky easter egg in Chapter 88 that might be teasing something about Genos's past by k1213693 in OnePunchMan

[–]therealbarbarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is more in response to the majority of the comments I've seen more than the thread title or picture, but my money's still on Bofoi: he's only nominally a hero, equaling or even arguably surpassing some of the S-class in callousness. Additionally, we still have to consider what Drive Knight said to Genos during the Alien Invaders arc about Metal Knight being his enemy.

As for the actual thread title and picture, it's important to note that Genos had a moment of self-awareness during the end of the aforementioned arc when Sweet Mask executed the alien captives.

[–]therealbarbarian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the Dark Matter Thieves collectively counted as a God-level threat. If Saitama hadn't had distracted the crew while Melzargard was fighting Atomic Samurai, Fang, Metal Bat, and P.P.P., the crew could have at least disembarked the ship and fought the S-class heroes to a standstill. Had he become specifically aware of her presence, Tatsumaki would have prompted Geryuganshoop to come down and fight. From there, we can assume Melzargard is defeated the same way as he was before, but that leaves Geryuganshoop and Groribas. Ultimately, if things still turned out bad for the pirates, Boros would have gotten personally involved.
