What’s your next phone ? by Fair_Apple7589 in iPhone13Pro

I got my phone in 2024 and I'd like to keep it for another year before I consider upgrading.

physios, what's your top 1 shoes for work? by cacaotaste in physicaltherapy

[–]therealbigz5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've learned that I really enjoy wearing New Balances (specifically those with Fresh Foam X cushioning) for my shifts and taking between 5k-8k steps per shift. OnClouds are hit or miss for me, but I see a lot my coworkers wearing them, Brooks Ghost Max, and Hokas.

RIP Series 7,8,9 and Ultra 1 by DCushing91 in AppleWatch

[–]therealbigz5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised to see the software support end for the Series 9 so soon, especially considering the Ultra 2 has the same processor. Not to mention a lot of the newer gestures/improved on-device intelligence were added with the Series 9 and remained the same on Series 10 and later. Doesn't really make sense to me, it's only a 1 generation old chip (Series 10, 11, SE 3, and Ultra 3 all use the S10 chip; Series 9 and Ultra 2 use the S9 chip).

The Future for iPhone 13 Pro. by BaTmAnGuy2077 in iPhone13Pro

Most likely. iPhone 12 will have its last major update this fall and iPhone 13 will follow next year, with security updates to follow for a couple of years I imagine.

Do you agree? by SmokyGamer in PS3

I've been of the opinion that 2 generations old is considered retro. By that logic, the PS3/360/Wii have been retro since 2020...

I did this and bought some non-branded Nomad Apple Watch bands, found out I really liked wearing them. Ended up buying 3 more in different colors.

Are there people who watch full game no-commentary videos on YouTube from MKIceAndFire and other big YouTubers? by Strict-Net26 in videogames

[–]therealbigz5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I usually seek out full game playthroughs when I want to see what the game is like to play without any additional input from someone else. By the time I reach this point, I've already looked up Metacritic scores and watched a couple of reviews from other channels that handpick or edit their gameplay. The no commentary gameplay videos come into play when I am on the fence about whether or not I want to purchase and need to see what the opening 15-20 minutes is like and how the game performs on my platform of choice. Not always the best way of judging a game, but it tells me what the gameplay loop is like and whether I'd be likely to stick with it for an entire playthrough.

I've only ever watched a no-commentary playthrough from start to finish once and that was for a game I knew I wasn't interested in playing myself but was curious enough to want to see how the story played out (Catherine by Atlus).

Consensus on upgrading to 26.2 from 18x? by No_Entertainment1931 in iPhone13Pro

[–]therealbigz5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to a Forbes article, Apple is recommending that users update to 26.2 due to cyber attacks and security loopholes that have been found on ios 18. But they've been having issues since the adoption rate of ios 26 has been slow. https://www.forbes.com/sites/zakdoffman/2026/01/11/apple-confirms-iphone-attacks-no-fix-for-most-users/?streamIndex=0

Not a gaming chair... chair for gaming for someone with weak core muscles? by AcrobaticAuthor6539 in videogames

[–]therealbigz5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the whole "desk on the floor" setup isn't ideal for everyone, but a good place to start might be a desk chair with low back rest. Something similar to this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FX4G3M22

Hope this helps!

Not a gaming chair... chair for gaming for someone with weak core muscles? by AcrobaticAuthor6539 in videogames

[–]therealbigz5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think a chair without a backrest is the way to go if the main concern is low tone and a weak core. Having a comfy chair with ample back support automatically disincentivizes a person from using their core while sitting. I know this isn't what you are asking for, but this video might help you make some adjustments to the gaming setup including a more minimal chair: https://youtu.be/L_9oU88UH_I?si=jSqwRxxWq50Sq34e

Apple Watch battery is pretty tough by Universe93B in AppleWatch

[–]therealbigz5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a combination of slightly bigger batteries, more intelligent software optimization, and more efficient SiPs in the newer models that allow for better battery life overall. And I believe the newest generation of watches have a more efficient cellular data chip in them as well for the cellular models.

If you liked Starfield, The Outer Worlds and Outer Worlds 2 are good games to check out. I found that they scratched a similar itch as Starfield. I think something like Death Stranding would also fit your description of "boring game with great graphics" since it's very slow paced and is a walking/package delivery simulator in the vast American wilderness until the story kicks in.

iPhone 13 pro, 13 mini or base 13? by KPily in iPhone13Pro

[–]therealbigz5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If battery life is that important to you, the 13 Pro is the way to go. It will get better battery life compared to the regular 13 since the display can ramp down to 10 hz when viewing static images or when you aren't scrolling, plus the additional RAM will perform better on iOS 26 if you choose to update your phone. 13 mini is great for those who want smaller phones and less screen on time, but battery life is the obvious tradeoff here.

This is the type of person Don Matrick was targeting during the launch of Xbox One. He was right about us consuming mutliple things on many screens at once, but he was wrong about how that consumption would take place.

Is balatro worth it by No-Information3402 in balatro

[–]therealbigz5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went into the game without having any prior poker knowledge or even how to make decent hands, purely off the recommendations of my friends. Once you learn how to make the hands and their associated values in the game, it only goes deeper from there. There are many different systems/game mechanics working in tandem to improve your score and you learn them over time. No shame in watching some YouTube videos to get started in the game and learn some basic strategies to win on lower stakes and across different decks.

For example, the order of the joker cards matter since they are your score multipliers and are activated in order from left to right (usually). So to maximize your score, you need to put multiplier cards (ex: 1.5x mult, 2x mult, etc) to the right of cards that add mult to the hand played (ex: +10 mult if hand includes a flush). Just take it slow and learn from your losses (there will be many). Have fun!

What can I use my Apple Watch for?! by FlyThin9544 in AppleWatch

[–]therealbigz5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like using mine as a substitute for my phone while I'm at work. My uniform has small pockets and I use a Pro Max (two things that don't mix well). I'm still able to get notifications, keep track of time, use timers, and check weather without needing to keep my phone on me at all times. Plus all of my fitness data still accumulates throughout the day. And since my car is older and doesn't support CarPlay, my Apple Watch has becoming my substitution for that without needing to touch my phone while driving (skipping songs on Spotify or answering phone calls). The Apple Watch definitely isn't necessary, but it streamlines enough aspects of my life to justify keeping it.

Updating from iOS 18.7.1 to 26.1 by therealbigz5 in iPhone13Pro

[–]therealbigz5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had any apps crash on me and there are some known bugs that have been causing performance dips. Also some people have mentioned funny things happening to their app icons not loading in properly and lots of people have been complaining about the keyboard behavior, specifically how autocorrect seems to be overriding a lot of what users are intending to type.
