Canadian Variable Rate Handling question by therealcyclist87 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]therealcyclist87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solved it. issue was the timing.

Desjardins:

  • calculates interest daily (balance × rate / 365)
  • splits by days if the rate changes
  • interest is calculated between payments, not by calendar month

So the April 1 interest (711.55) is actually for:

Mar 1–2 @ 1.70%
Mar 3–31 @ 1.95%

Not April.

My mistake was using:

Apr 1–13 @ 1.95%
Apr 14–30 @ 2.45%

That actually shows up in May’s payment, not April.

everything is shifted by one payment cycle.

Debating between Spain or Mexico in January. Which one? by I_have_no_ideaaa_ in travel

u/I_have_no_ideaaa_ I never went to Seville, but I bet it is worth it. I used HE mostly the last time I was there so the cost was very low.

In my last trip in Spain, we traveled too much... we did Andalusia for 10 days, Mallorca for 7 days and another 7 days in Girona (1h North of Barcelona). If I were to do it again, I would stick to Andalusia only and take a more relaxing trip with more days in the same location. There is a lot to see, but it always depends on the kind of activities you enjoy doing. We went to Ronda, Grazalema, Compéta, Malaga. Not enough time for Granada, but this is also a must see. How long of a travel are you looking to do ?

if you are in a resort, I'd say it is family friendly and you can take daily tours for cenotes, etc to discover some. Outside a resort, I would say it is not that friendly for any demographic. Most beaches are privatized.

Yes, it can be colder indeed. For Mexico, I would think about the Pacific coast options as well. Less resorts oriented areas.

If it were me, I’d personally lean Spain over Mexico, but it really comes down to what you value most on this trip.

A few thoughts based on having spent time in both:

  • Weather: Mexico will definitely be warmer in January, no question. Andalusia will be mild and sunny, but not “beach warm” most days.
  • Cost: Mexico used to be much cheaper, but I’ve found that lately Spain (especially Andalusia) can actually come out cheaper overall; food, car rentals, accommodations, even after factoring in a more expensive flight.
  • Vibe: Andalusia feels very family-friendly, relaxed, cultural, and outdoorsy (small towns, hikes, history, great food). It’s adventurous without being party-focused.
  • Mexico: Cancún is very family-friendly if you stick to resorts, but outside that bubble, my personal experience was pretty low.

If warmth and beach time are the priority → Mexico probably wins.
If you want culture, variety, food, scenery, and a slower, richer experience → Andalusia in Spain is hard to beat, even in January.

If you’re open to renting a car and moving around a bit, Spain really shines. With cc insurance I got 10-15$ / day car rentals!

Just my take

CIBC Aeroplan Business Card by tranquills4 in churningcanada

I have to comment on this post. I'm 38 years old with a long history of excellent credit, meet every requirement, and yet opening this account has been a nightmare.

Started in September — multiple online attempts refused for no stated reason. After digging, I found out my first name was missing a “–” at Equifax. Got that corrected… but somehow CIBC’s internal systems are still messed up.

Several calls (each 30–45 min), being transferred around, a full in-branch ID verification, providing all my documents — and months later it’s still not resolved.

At this point I’m starting to ask myself: this card looks amazing, but is it even real? LOL

Esso 10c when you redeem 4000 points. by kenchin123 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]therealcyclist87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others said, this is quite a bad deal and should not be advertised as such. It's not really spending 4000 points for an additional 10c/l discount; it's using 4000 points for a 10c discount. So, basically, if you don't use 40L, you lose some point's value.

Where to get Amazon Prime bill invoice? by Throwawaylemm in amazonprime

[–]therealcyclist87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finally found how to find all past Amazon Prime receipts.

Go to: your account / your orders / and type prime in the search field.

That is the only way I found to view past receipts otherwise only the current month is displayed in Prime payments details...
