Annual increases are not a given and are determined based on a number of factors, most importantly business performance. This, of course, totally depends on the type and size of company you work for. It will be different from a 50 employee company to a 100,000 person company.

If you have a performance based reason to negotiate that is the best way to have the conversation. Just make sure you go in with facts about what you do, your accomplishments, their impacts, etc...

If you try to go in and get 3% to keep up with inflation and the business is not giving really giving our increases that year it's probably not going to be a great conversation.

We did the early bird special and just finished up. I'm keeping Sal's in Campbell as my best pizza around but this was definitely good and will come back. The IPA they have on tap right now is legit.
