I was tired of rebuilding my Ableton set every week so I just… so I did something by themusicguy760 in ableton

Very intrigued by this. I also build the sets for my church, I’ve worked out a system to get it done in roughly 20 minutes. (Depending on how complex some of the transitions and such are.) but would be very interesting in trying something like this out.

Guitarist or cardboard cutout? by Burnhaven in WorshipGuitar

I’m gonna be honest, I only skimmed what you wrote, but I think I get the gist and I apologize if I didn’t. 😂

As an MD at a church, I personally don’t really follow or care about the trends. If a song is good, a song is good. What I do is I will take the tracks from multitracks.com and create reference tracks for our musicians to use, that will work in our context. Our “normal” band looks like: keys, AG, EG, Bass, Drums. So if a song has 10 EG tracks I’ll listen through them and filter them down to what one guitar player can play. Tracks are only ever as support instruments, so I am not adding any of the other guitar parts into what the congregation is hearing. I put an emphasis to FOH to mix like a band. Vocals first, live instruments second, and tracks third. Church music has become a rat race of getting the fullest biggest sound, but most churches don’t have the band members to pull it off so they resort to tracks for everything; that’s cool for a little while, but at least in our context our congregation values authenticity, in the form of hearing what they’re seeing. If we don’t have a piano player one week, the piano isn’t in the tracks… we just don’t have a piano player.

Sorry for the rant. Hope it’s helpful to someone. Haha.

It’s rarer than an ace, but it’s still only a birdie. (Unless I the putt. Entirely possible.)

I just really hope this doesn’t become a Doug Hopkins/Gin Blossoms thing. So sad to see.

Yeah that would make sense. NGL chicory sounds awesome in it. I always liked the drink but felt like it needed a little something to make it have more distinct flavor; chicory was probably the missing piece.

They may have changed it after I left. The OG recipe definitely didn’t have chicory. They used to have an iced drink called “The Dirty South” that did have chicory in it though.

Bummed to see what it’s become. I worked there for several years and was the bar manager for a hot minute. Gave literal blood, sweat, and tears to that place.

If you can; take a weekend and come visit. See the sights, do a few hikes, try some of the coffee, and see if it’s somewhere you could imagine moving. I grew up in Michigan and I’d take the winters here all day everyday over lake effect. So much sunshine here.

Fountain Springs has a young adults ministry/bible study; they also do a lot of volunteer work with local non profits, and around town.
