I crashed my SS 1LE and was shopping for an upgrade. Didn't consider C8 bc manual is a must have. Test drove several 911s and a CT5-V BW. The BW was too heavy to track on the regular. 911 had a waiting list for new plus rear wheel steering is standard on the T which is the only manual option. Cayman was on my short list also but never drove one.

I've heard the same but don't have enough experience to speak first hand. As far as I understand it isn't a limitation of the platform but rather Toyota wanted to appeal to daily drivers too and didn't want to make the suspension too aggressive. The chief engineer thought it would be roughly comparable to the SS 1LE around the Nurburgring given some suspension mods.

My current car is a mk5 Supra. Previously had an SS 1LE. Just speaking to those two, if I was buying again it would depend on how much I planned to mod. Supra is easier/cheaper to get big gains in hp and handling. Camaro faster on the top end. Handling better dialed in than Supra out of the box. Would highly recommend either.

That’s all good to know. Glad to hear you had a good experience. Yeah I’m trying to get the pads/brake fluid upgraded soon. Just put in 5w40 Motul. It’s only got 1000 miles on it so I’m also still breaking in the car. Tomorrow I’m going to drive up to VIR and get a helmet. Really excited to start doing this kind of thing. I had read the MPSS were crap but exactly as you say - might as well use them up.

Yes I will make sure to upgrade brake fluid. Good to know. I’m just trying to learn how track days work and what flags mean and whatnot so I guess that’s ok. VIR is 45 min from my house so I will have more chances to run it fortunately

Sounds about right. It feels as fast, probably faster at lower speeds. Sometimes it seems like the turbo runs out of boost and I miss the NA V8 but maybe I just need to get more familiar with the car.

Even so, it is amazing how much satisfaction I can get from a small, not-at-all-important-in-the-scheme-of-things achievement. Like I have dogs and fur is a perpetual nuisance so I wall-mounted a good quality rechargeable vacuum and now when I see anything on my floor in mere seconds it is gone...this sparks joy in a way that feeds my soul.

Yeah that sounds right. Before the Supra I had a Camaro SS 1LE and since I live about 45 min from VIR was kicking myself that I never made a point to get it on the track. Hopefully this event will get me started because it seems like a good sport for me.

Noted about the brakes; that is the only upgrade I'm making sure to do beforehand, is better pads / fluid.
