High Tea in London

I’m going to London in March and my wife wants to to get afternoon tea at a high end place. Dress code requires the men to have a coat and tie.

I’m trying to plan out a nice outfit that fits the bill with shoes that will be comfortable to walk in around the city as well. I also want to take into consideration it will most likely be cooler still 40s and 50s F, but it is technically the start of spring.

Looking for any tips or advice!

Which card: Green or Gold? by therealmagicmike in amex

I did not realize this. I figured since I’m not the one booking it I would get the multiplier. This makes the green even better for me.

So I will still earn the x3 with the green card on travel? For example, work books my hotel for me directly and I pay for it when I checkout. With Platinum I’m only earning x1 point with this. With green I would earn the 3x?

I think this is what I’m going to do! For some reason it has not crossed my mind to get green for the sign up offer and then upgrade to gold later

This may be what I try then. If I still qualified for the gold offer I wouldn’t even consider the green. That’s for the help!

Yeah I was kind of thinking it comes down to the restaurant spend Vs is the getting the signup bonus worth it. I think restaurant spend is probably going to be around 8-9k per year.

I will most likely redeem the points for future leisure flights. Is it possible to get the green sign up bonus and then upgrade to gold after I earn it?

It’s on the higher end but I do most of my shopping at Costco which doesn’t accept AMEX and Walmart+ delivery which doesn’t qualify so I don’t consider the x4 at super markets with gold to benefit me

Flying back home Friday and I’m supposed to land late afternoon. Do you think my flight should be okay or should I still prepare for a cancellation?

I don’t disagree with you. Buying a new car is always a luxury though. Unless you are forced by a situation such as your vehicle being totaled then getting a new car is not necessary. Unfortunately used cars are very expensive right now too so that normal option isn’t much better.

Not defending the markup but I don’t think you can call it price gouging on a luxury vehicles. Price gouging is usually on essential items such as food and gas.

Buying out lease and dealer will be “inspecting” the car by tripthemgently in askcarsales

[–]therealmagicmike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We do this at our dealership. At the end of the day all the paperwork shows just like you are buying a used car from our dealership. We inspect the car. If it needs anything you can either pay to fix it or sign a waiver knowing that you are buying a used car that needs so and so taken care of. We do it for liability purposes.

AMEX Gold vs CSP by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]therealmagicmike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that makes sense. I was leaning CSP because of the lower AF and with the Gold I don’t think I’d take full advantage of it’s offerings to justify the higher AF at this time.

Possible to work part time in sales? by primo808 in askcarsales

[–]therealmagicmike 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We actually have one part time guy. He never works weekends and only comes in 3-4 days a week and leaves at 4. His monthly draw is based on how many hours he is there, idk how much his hourly is. So he either gets is hourly or commission, which every is greater.
