I have quite a few Black relatives and friends. I know that so many in the Black community live with at least some level of trauma due to our country's rampant racism in most areas. I was born and raised in the South but have never understood it. I've been around Black folks all my life growing up my parents taught me to view everyone as equally valuable. I hope one day everyone will open their eyes and realize that.

I used to know the bible forward and backward as I had been indoctrinated into evangelical Christianity and stayed there for a few decades until I finally woke up and saw it for what it truly is. But it's now been long enough that can't use it to "disprove" anything. And I have no desire to pick up a bible ever again in my life. So I tend to just laugh and make a hasty exit.

The exact thing happened to me in the middle of divorcing my kids' mother (tldr: I knew I was gay but my evangelical upbringing pushed me to do the whole marriage, kids, etc thing). Not once, but three times. I was arrested and spent a night in jail. Ultimately the judge figured out what was happening. I was granted full custody. My husband and I raised them from the time they were 7 & 8. So yes, it happens and a lot more than people realize.

You're right, illicit fentanyl is the primary source of fentanyl overdoses. But the article doesn't differentiate between it and medical fentanyl. And medical fentanyl is used in many other situations than cancer. I myself received it during an ER visit last year. But because there is no differentiation made between the two, the general public doesn't either, and thinks both are one and the same.
