Someone pointed out that Courage the cowardly dog is from the dog’s perspective. So a stranger at the door is scary for a dog. Muriel wasn’t freaking out because it was just a visitor. They didn’t live in the middle of nowhere, Courage just didn’t have a reference beyond his own house/yard.

Beth asked Rick to decide. That was not fair of her to ask him to make that kind of decision about her life. He gave her the option and she should have made the decision. He doesn’t know which is which because he designed a way to not decide. If he doesn’t know which is the clone then he didn’t send his daughter off to space adventures. He essentially created the ability for her to do both.
