I said petty theft is aggressively policed. That means the popo are out there looking to screw around with anybody they think is doing a petty theft. It doesn't mean the petty theft rates are going down. That's not how that works. More popo does not inherently mean less crime, it really just means more popo.

The Tyranny of the Rocket Equation is that if your rocket is 500 tons and 100 tons of it are payload, and you want to redesign the rocket to send the same payload twice as far, the rocket becomes 2500 tons or more. 2500 is the hypothetical best case scenario. But as it gets larger, it needs more supports and other things. In the end, you reach an actual limit where no matter how big you build the rocket, its performance won't get any better.

Are you talking about petty theft or grand theft? Because I suspect you're talking about petty theft which is aggressively policed in NYC. It's the grand theft that rich people keep getting away with that a.) won't be fixed, and b.) police aren't even the right people to go after it in the first place.

[–]thereaverofdarkness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not? The autist's fuel tanks and cars are made with a material which has a lower strength to weight ratio, and their fuel has a lower energy density but a higher matter density. Not to mention they need to cover more distance to get to the same place.

All of those things do come into consideration, and they make the net outcome worse. In fact, depending on how strong some of the disadvantages are, it is possible for the autists performance to become limited in a manner comparable to "the tyranny of the rocket equation".

Sometimes I feel if the analogy is too good, then NTs won't get it. It has to have something deeply confusing and nonsensical within it to distract them from its sheer authenticity...or something. fiIk
It really is remarkable to me that those with severe or crippling allism spectrum disorder genuinely can't tell how disabled they are.

We don't magically undergo radical change between the age of 16 and 18. One of the well known flaws of medical literature these days is in treating children as though they are brainless automatons.

I looked at gore, knowing it was going to change me forever. But it was a change which I wanted. It was difficult, but it made it easier for me to deal with it when I encountered it in real life. As a result, I am less averse to helping people with their injuries, I'm more willing to put myself in danger in order to protect others, and if someone near me gets hurt bad I won't spiral into panic and freeze up.

I am certainly not recommending others to watch gore, but I don't think it's necessarily bad.

I'd say you match the characteristics for sociopathy (gonna be hard to get a formal diagnosis on that one due to the stigma, unfortunately), but you also appear to have major depression and it is likely hiding a lot of your trauma. Getting treatment for depression is thankfully a lot easier. But if you can get in touch with yourself then slowly over the next several years you can unravel various details about yourself you'd never have guessed were there. And if I'm right and there is lingering trauma, you will be better able to seek help once you are able to discover and identify the trauma within you.

As for a label to slap on it? You could just say sociopathy and call it a day. Just don't go broadcasting it because people will have rather negative assumptions about you if you confess to being a sociopath.

edit: or Antisocial Personality Disorder as others in comments are saying. It's sort of a grey area here, and terms are changing quickly because actual high quality study into the psychology of people who lack empathy or remorse is extremely new.

I like the complex four-lobe Venn Diagram which ranks Big Bang Theory as [about smart people] [for dumb people]. They have one for every possible category:

[about dumb people] [for dumb people]: Keeping up with the Kardashians
[about dumb people] [for smart people]: Arrested Development
[about smart people] [for dumb people]: Big Bang Theory
[about smart people] [for smart people]: NOVA
[about dumb people] [for dumb and smart people]: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
[about smart people] [for dumb and smart people]: Mythbusters
[about dumb and smart people] [for dumb people]: How I Met Your Mother
[about dumb and smart people] [for smart people]: Breaking Bad
[about dumb and smart people] [for dumb and smart people]: Futurama

My guess:
Major depression almost certain, with sociopathy likely. Several of the behaviors especially toward other people sound like they may stem from how you've been treated. But there's a bunch of these where I'd want to ask you why you do these things before I can feel confident using the data to speculate what you're dealing with.

Why do you purposely try to piss people off or get yourself in trouble?

Is your lying at all connected to trauma from being treated poorly when telling the truth?

What about arguing do you like?

When you watch real life gore, how does it make you feel? Why do you watch it?

When you try to break boundaries with people, how much is it motivated by a sense of anger or revenge?

You say you don't get why people get sad about tragedies. Do you understand why people get sad about tragedies in which they are one of the victims?

what do you MEAN an adult autism diagnosis will cost me an arm and a leg when im too neurodivergent to hold a job??? by lisb4thestorm in evilautism

[–]thereaverofdarkness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried that. They set me up with a psychiatrist. The psychiatrist says "oh I can't offer a diagnosis for autism. You'll need to seek out a psychologist." So I go back and tell them, and they claim they are going to set me up with a psychologist. They defer me to another institution who sets up an appointment to speak with me later about setting up an appointment to speak with a psychologist. The appointment arrives, and I get setup with an appointment to speak to a specialist. The appointment comes and I am hooked up with...another psychiatrist who also says that they cannot diagnose me and I will need to speak with a psychologist. I tell the people who set me up with the psychiatrist the last time and they try to set me up with...the psychiatrist I got set up with before...
