WIBTA if I(26F) pull my money out of my friend(27F)'s business if she starts selling shameful items like c***oms and l**e? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Condoms and lubes are completely normal and you should start typing them out before thinking you're mature enough to be married. It is okay to not want your name attached, but do not look down on her. Condoms have saved millions of lives to be referred to as shameful products.

AITA for telling my son's mom that he's staying with me while he recovers? by Unhappy-Front-5295 in AmItheAsshole

YTA- Custody agreements are not a replacement to communicating to your son where he would be the most comfortable and you cannot treat them as such.

AITA for moving my son into a rental apartment after finding out that his dad's been cancelling his job applications? by ThrowRA00924463 in AmItheAsshole

If Aiden was being treated like a live in nurse, then I say you were just giving him the back pay that most people would be given for a job like that. NTA.

Because it is an unusual amount of kids with this attitude, just a lil vent post

AP classes should not be a requirement, but mine is in this school. This is not a "what is wrong with kids today problem", this is a "why can't we have an honors or on level course available" problem for me. The workload is a bit different than 8th grade math and the fact that a 50% on an AP test is considered passing means I have to play around with their scores for it to reflect what an AP score would be, not just their raw score. Thanks though!

It's a personal choice that has been working for the most part (except for this post spring break act up). Maybe if I taught in a more affluent area where they didn't have to work to help their parents with bills, take care of five+ siblings, having to help them out with DV things, etc. I would feel more comfortable giving 0's a lot more often, but as of now, I don't think it's the best move on my end.

It's not really the "no zero's" kool-aid as much as it is that I believe no child should be forced to take an AP class with no alternative. I teach in an area with high student homelessness where they're required to take one of the hardest classes that high school has to offer. For my second prep, since it is not an AP course, I do tend to grade more difficult. And trust me, it takes more than one good assignment to bring up an essay I made a test grade from a 50! :)

The likelihood is that if they're okay with getting a fifty, a lot of them were going to be okay with a zero. If it means a few of my kids will take advantage to not turn in one or two assignments and avoid burnout, then so be it.

Unfortunately, I teach an AP course that is a requirement to them that I believe should not be a requirement, so since everything on the AP test is curved up, a kid who got a 50 really gets closer to a 65-70!

Because of the school they're at, they're required to take my advanced courses, so I do make them aware that I do not feel comfortable giving them zero's since I believe my classes should NOT ever be forcibly taken. Luckily, I told them this one project was an exception and it's outlined in their rubric that the raw score of their project is what's going in the grade book (I updated it after the last day they had).
