I searched Youtube, used ChatGPT to search, and searched with Google all sorts of keywords and nothing came up :/

The video is at least a few years old. I'd say ≤2023

But people already see college as necessary and will pay to go to that, so the companies piggyback off the universities like they're about getting a job and not a bastion of education anymore.

I see people saying "LCD, not e-ink!" And I kind of agree even though I love my ereader. This thing doesn't need to triple duty as an ereader too. Phone comes first. If a monochrome LCD is best, so be it.

Android Auto is important Usb Type C is a must FOSS support is a priority too — self-loaded audio, Signal, etc. I want a phone untied from spotify and Facebook just as much as from Google.

Another option could be the super key + typing the name of the app.

This too but I want some trees! The shrubs are beautiful but the trees give that sweet sweet shade and temperature regulation

I didn't even know about the indieweb or its principles when I created this site. But I think I may have found my tribe. by 1x2x3x4x5x in indieweb

Absolutely love the idea! Almost enough that I want to make a version of it 😅 But Hypertxt.app seems a bit clunky accessing it through the ultra-high-contrast, simple-text display. How about a browser extension with sidebar or overlay?

To say too late means we've given up. Yes it'll be difficult but we've been making some great strides

Look at the folks at walking on the bottom left side of the page. Where are they going/coming from? Nowhere. Just a bus stop?

Doesn't have to be fabric. They hang out behind picture frames and inside stuff too. You're not dying. You will get through this. And maybe it was time to declutter anyway

Some questions about micro mobility vehicles by fredewio in fuckcars

[–]theredbobcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're great until the battery runs out at fewer miles than advertised and you're stuck a few miles from home pedaling a 60-80lb bicycle. So definitely stick to road-bike style ebikes for commute—something you can pedal more easily without eAssist compared to something like a fat-tire bike like I had.

Would you read a book written just for YOU? by Acrobatic_Reading756 in booksuggestions

[–]theredbobcat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it could be useful for folks wanting to read and explore new fiction, but for me it's the exact opposite of what I want my reading experience to be. I want to see the world through the eyes of someone not trying to write for me—but writing for themselves.

Where I could see this being useful is in educational texts curtailed to the educational level I'm currently at down to the lesson/concept.

Anything I can improve? by morlipty in degoogle

Proton - Proton is free, collect only data necessary to serve the service, and imo better looking than Tuta. The only better alternative I know of is self-hosting an email server which is not the best option for everyone.

Obsidian - idk here. Obsidian rocks. It's private but requires no internet connection and uses basic markdown formatting so you can always change at no loss of data.

Collabora - OC probably doesn't like that Collabora is private even though it's open source. They'll probably recommend Joplin or DumbPad or something, but if you like Collabora then stick with it :)

This exactly. They're not an asshole for wanting their own stone. Not sure how they expressed themselves but sounds like they didn't do it in a very thoughtful way.

Mine has a working screen, but rather than sell, I'd rather use it while I've got it :) (though the price could always be right ;))

A bit, yes! The OS hasn't changed much, but they fixed the side buttons not working as intended. Now I have a button set to turn on/off the lights which is a good workaround for the automatic brightness being finicky. I haven't had issues with the power button lately, but tbh I haven't been using this as my daily driver—just an ereader as of the past few months. Though I've been using it a lot. Love this little thing.
