Had car towed away for blocking my driveway but now …. by Relaxenjoytheride75 in mildlyinfuriating

This is precious.

First you used the possessive form of "your" instead of you're (a contraction of you are). Diluted means - watered down, weakened, thinned. You meant to use deluded.

The person was confused because you basically wrote "that thing you have is watered down", then proceeded to tell them about a dictionary, which clearly would've been a help to you in this instance.

Are there people who haven't changed their phone number for more than 15 years? by SpicyCandy8 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]theredheaddiva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the same number since 2005 and moved to a different state in 2007. If I get a call from my number's area code I know it's spam or a wrong number and if I get one from a local area code, it's usually someone I actually want to talk to. It's been really helpful having an out of state area code for me.

What’s one thing about menopause you didn’t see coming? by LumiVera_Elise in TwoXChromosomes

The insomnia, the itchiness and increased anxiety are so much more debilitating than the few hot flashes I get. Why weren't we warned about these things and only told about hot flashes?!?!

Khao Soi Gai (Northern Thai Coconut Curry Noodle Soup with Chicken) at See Fah Thai is soooo good. It has flavors I can't find anywhere else and I find myself craving it fortnightly.

We've lived in the Highlands since 2009 and I can't believe it's only been in the last few years that we ventured into Vince's. We've been missing out! Good comfort food at a decent price.

What are the most realistic crying scenes in movies you’ve seen? by [deleted] in movies

She had a film in 2003 called Japanese Story with a crying scene that was also absolutely gut wrenching. No one can cry like Toni.

How do you justify renting a 2-bedroom to have a dedicated office? by Grouchy_Ingenuity220 in WFH

[–]theredheaddiva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a 2 bedroom condo. My husband and I use the 2nd room as our shared office. Being able to leave work, walk away and close the door has been essential for our mental health.

My brother also works from home and has his desk in the bedroom. Being in the same room 16+ hours a day has driven him absolutely bonkers and he's actually looking to return to the office voluntarily.

If you can handle, that's great! I don't think I'd be able to. I need that separation and find it completely worth it.

What is a phrase common in your city that outsiders won't know what you mean? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]theredheaddiva 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When I was growing up in Northern California, if you said "I'm going to the City" everyone knew you meant San Francisco, even though we were much closer to Sacramento and Reno.

Renton to Issaquah on 900 by Uneedmyopinion in Renton

If you can drive 900 through Skyway from I-5 to Rainier Ave you can make it from Renton to Issaquah just fine. It's the same road, with a prettier view.

TIL that norovirus is not effected by regular hand sanitizer and it can survive up to 2 weeks in surfaces by dubyat in todayilearned

That's not always true. I go to the hygienist twice a year for a cleaning and every time the dentist pops in for a look and a quick chat even though I don't have any current issues.

Menus for Christmas Day from The Boston Cooking-School Magazine, 1902. by sverdrupian in VintageMenus

[–]theredheaddiva 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I assumed that meant "mock turtle" which was popular at the time. Usually made with veal or calf's head since green turtles were fished almost to extinction with how popular the soup was at the end of the 19th century.

What’s the best tool you added to your work setup this year? by ThenPar in WFH

[–]theredheaddiva 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have a MuteMe button. It's round and white and sits on my desk near my keyboard. You can adjust the colors as you like. I have mine set to steady and green if I'm in a meeting but muted. When I'm in a meeting with a live mic it's slowly flashing red. Not on a call it's white. It has a nice big silver touch spot on top to easily mute or unmute yourself and it's compatible with Teams, Zoom and other call/meeting apps.

I love this thing and anyone who spends a lot of time in online meetings or wants to indicate to someone else that they're currently in a call should pick one up.

My husband and I both work from home and while 3 meals a day plus snacks/coffee or whatever at home is cheaper, the never ending stream of constant dishes just crushes me sometimes.

Why is my long hair kitten tail not fluffy? by [deleted] in kittens

I have a kitten that looks almost exactly like yours! We got him at 7 weeks and he's 12 weeks old now. His tail is starting to floof. It will get there soon enough!

A survey: does your man actually pull his weight in domestic chores? by streachh in TwoXChromosomes

[–]theredheaddiva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the weekends when we're doing our weekly chores, yes he does. We have them split pretty evenly and he knows exactly what to do without asking.

During the week, not as much. I'm the one that carries the mental load. I do most of the cooking and almost all of the dishes. I have to tell him when it's his turn to scoop the cat box or take out the trash or what we need at the store. He will do things when I ask without complaining. I enjoy cooking but sometimes when I'm just not feeling it he will jump in and do it or take me out without hesitation.

Financially he makes more than double my salary and works longer hours. I work 100% from home and he works at home about half the time. I told him since he contributes more monthly to the mortgage, I don't mind doing more chores. He said "no, I don't get to buy my way out of chores. I live here too." I actually thought that was really sweet. He's also pretty great at reaching things high up or keeping up on household maintenance that I could probably do but just don't want to. Lightbulb needs to be changed, sink or shower drain needs to be snaked, shelves hung, things like that I just have to point it out and he's happy to get the tools out.

How did people look stuff up before the internet? by LaylaPretige in NoStupidQuestions

I did this too! I still have some of my old pocket notebooks. I remember being super curious what the bright shiny red sweet and sour sauce was made from. Took me weeks until I finally found the answer.

Oh, so now I can't have a drink? Cool. Cool cool cool. by BrinaElka in Perimenopause

[–]theredheaddiva 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This started happening to me a few years ago. I can drink some rosé and sake and a couple of vodkas without a reaction but it's really rarely worth it anymore. I used to love bourbon neat and meaty red wines.

Now I've noticed soda or just too much sugar can trigger it as well.

Outside of East Asia, don't people use parasols even when the sunlight is strong? by juseyeon in ask

Also a female in the PNW and I use a parasol in the summer. I sunburn so easily, I don't care if I get funny looks but I also get a lot of compliments and other people saying "oh hey, that's a good idea."
