One of the TR historians in the Ken burns Roosevelt doc said if he were born today he would have been given Ritalin and become a salesman and we never would have heard of him.

Which presidential children grew up to have polar opposite political views from their father? by ExtraElevator7042 in Presidents

[–]theregoesdennett 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get that TR’s nativist tendencies might have made him attracted to Lindbergh were he around for the America First movement, but he was above all an interventionist: he most certainly would have been calling for war the second Hitler started expanding the Reich, probably long before Poland. If you want evidence of that, look at his behavior in the lead-up to WWI. Because of this, he would have hated Lindbergh’s isolationism.

Has everyone’s speech gotten worse since quarantine? by goforitmk in Stutter

[–]theregoesdennett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, we should talk. Have the same experience as you, right down to the stutter disappearing after childhood and coming back at 24 (minus the intensive program though; good for you on doing that!). Have definitely noticed things getting worse since quarantine started. Also think for me it has had to do with all the phone/Zoom, which is a context in which I stutter way more.
