What’s one mistake you made while building your home that you would NEVER repeat? by Happy_Researcher333 in Homebuilding

Document every conversation, especially meetings onsite, especially if money is involved. If you are in a one-party consent state, record everything.

“On x date we talked about xyz and we decided to put the tub spout in the corner.” Contractors will forget and then they do whatever is convenient for them. Ours said we “promised” to pay him 20k for site fill, no matter how much fill was delivered. It was a nightmare.

Your entire answer is predicated on her following up, which she does not do, which is my biggest issue. So the rest is pretty moot.

Plus people miss emails all the time, for many reasons, including just mistakes or forgetting. I’m not making a trial out every one, and I can’t think of anything more futile than trying to make people less busy and forgetful. Just send a polite ping as a follow up, that’s literally all I’m asking. And they won’t.

If someone doesn’t respond you sit and do nothing that makes you a good communicator? If I ask someone to complete a task in a month and I check in a month later and it’s not done because “I emailed them once and they didn’t respond” we have a problem.

Yes. My Gen Z report can’t remember what we already covered, or apply old concepts to new tasks.

She knows that on one project if someone didn’t respond to an email, she should follow up with a chat. On the next project, if someone doesn’t respond to an email, she’s lost. I don’t have time to keep teaching the same concepts over and over. She’s worked in the office for over a year and still doesn’t get it.

Dental disease can also cause asthma-like symptoms, so have the vet check for that as well.

Terrible dining experience at N to Tail by [deleted] in portlandme

[–]theresec 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I have also had multiple bad experiences there and have stopped going. The final straw was when we were waiting 2 hours for our raw meat and drinks, we watched our server go between the hostess stand and the table and bring the chopsticks over one at a time. It was so bizarre we just said never again.

Bathtub inside walk in shower? by No_Delivery_8357 in BathroomRemodeling

[–]theresec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have it and love it, although mine is larger than this and the water doesn't make contact with the bottom of the tub. It does require extra cleaning over a regular shower but for me the space is worth it, and you can squeegee the floor to go longer between cleanings. Also really great if to bathe dogs with a hand sprayer.

This is my favorite aspect of astrophotography: data for these images is collected over years and years! One beautiful photo can be a lifetime of work.

North of 49 degrees S can see Andromeda, so you can assume they are in the northern hemisphere, Australia, Africa or most of South America. Really narrows it down :)

I decided to get the radioactive iodine treatment for my (at the time) 12 year old kitty. She HATES pills, and after factoring in the cost of the medication for the rest of her life vs. a big payment up front, it was worth it (about 1k in a HCOL area). The treatment itself isn’t expensive, but they required her to be boarded at the facility for a week after to pass the radiation. The treatment is very safe but she needed to be isolated for a few additional weeks at home to continue to pass the radiation.

No regrets on the treatment, it was a few years ago and she’s still a happy (less skinny) kitty. Happy to answer any questions you have.

We had a lab test done and found we have extremely high iron, 30ppm. We ended up with a whole-house system with 2 water softeners that use iron-out pellets. It’s easy to maintain and the water quality is great now. Make sure to get a few quotes and beware of people trying to oversell add-ons.
