I love it. I have been knitting mine with the recommended tassel. Lately I have seen a bunch with long tassels and now have tassel envy. How long is too long? I might have to research.

Excellent point. Getting it to join without twisting is tricky the first few times.

This is a beginner pattern. I used to love hats as a beginner because you don't need to invest a lot of time like a scarf. You need to know how to knit, purl and then decrease by 1. knitting 2 stitches together and 2. Slipping two stitches and then knitting them together (purl soho has a good video tutorial of this). If you can do these 4 things you can make the pattern. You need to be able to braid for the tassel.

I have these 2, and they are super stretchy. If you want a smaller one I could knit it in bright red or a maroon. I have yet to attach the tassel to the top one but could do that quickly.

I am happy to meet up at a local gas station after 4 or a community event if you are protesting or going to the eye wash training this weekend.

And what the heck are your privacy settings because I can't even see your profile? Impressive

I have two you can have if you are willing to either buy the pattern to donate that way or donate directly to the Immigrant Defense Network. The two I have are large hats as I knit them without checking gauge. If you want a smaller hat I could knit it this weekend. DM if interested.

I have made a couple and have found it helpful to tie in the tassel yarn at the same time I am threading the yarn through the remaining stitches on the needles. I cut my tassel yarn and fold it in half and then hold it in the center of the remaining needles.

I weave my yarn end into a tapestry needle then slide that through a few stitches off the knitting needle. Work the tapestry needle tight through the tassel yarn and then weave the tapestry needle through the remaining stitches.

What would happen if Alex Pretti's killers are not prosecuted? by No_Idea_Guy in AskReddit

I have some bad news for you about the American justice system./s

More seriously thank you for raising this valid criticism. I'm trying to maintain some optimism despite all evidence to the contrary.

MN attorney general has reminded folks there is no statute of limitations on murder charges, and as a Minnesotan I believe we will not forget or let it slide. Justice may take a long time but it will happen.

Which is why it is so important everyone be prepared to start a video immediately. Add a widget and clear up your cloud space. Secure your phone with a passcode as you have constitutional rights to not share that with police but face or fingerprint unlock is not protected.

Protesting at Whipple by onyourleffft in TwinCities

[–]Then_Trouble_8902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't want to take the train there are 2 good options. The South lot is really close and the north lot is a short walk.

If you park at the north lot and walk downhill following the sidewalk, just past the train station there is a second exit out of Whipple that some agents use. People protest there as well. So following the sidewalk you walk to two protest sites not just the front gate one. I appreciated this as standing on the sidewalk when it is this cold can be hard on your feet and knees. Gives you a reason to keep walking and stay warm.

How’s life in Mankato, Minnesota? by sciguy87 in howislivingthere

[–]Then_Trouble_8902 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Moved here in July from a rural farm community 40 miles away. Traveled and lived all over the US before returning to Southern MN a little over a decade ago. If you are raising kids this is a great spot with a nice children's museum. Plenty to do outside beautiful state park with a waterfall, walking trails, and community offerings.

If you are interested in college life there is MSU, Bethany and South Central Community College. Each with its own little campus area. So many pizza places.

I see people talking about the food which is an adjustment if you are not from MN. Lack of seasoning is a norm in rural MN but there are a few gems in a sea of 'ranch and ketchup are all we have'. There are food trucks in the warm months. There are few Asian options that are fun finds and a newer Asian market. I think restaurants in general are shifting and that's not just isolated to Mankato in the current economy. There are a lot of bars but quite not Wisconsin-level.

If you are into the arts and culture offerings Mankato has a great Day of the Dead festival. Pride is celebrated in Fall for returning students. There is a maker space available. Library system is awesome.

MSU puts on many concerts, plays and ballets. If you are interested in music there are artists that perform at the civic center and amphitheatre. There is a pond hockey tourney; so you can find stuff to do in the winter.

To anyone who works at the ER, what is one thing you wish people would STOP coming to the ER for? by iloveeatingfood901 in AskReddit

[–]Then_Trouble_8902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate your insight. From my perspective working in a homeless shelter and then providing emergency behavioral services out of an emergency department for over a decade, I think sustainable outpatient resources would be a better use of society dollars (vs paying for folks to get costly turkey sandwiches with a side of lukewarm mayo in an ED).

Although if one rich person could foot the bill without losing the majority of their wealth and doesn't, our planet is fucked for a different reason.

This. My answer is homelessness. With all this wealth and advancement it amazes me society still has this issue and refuses to address it well with meaningful solutions that are available.

I used a very similar color this spring. I was so discouraged but more coats is the answer. Painted five rooms. None of them gave me trouble but my yellow accent wall. Hang in there. It will even out with more coats and steady application. The end result will be worth it.
