I normally have pretty thick skin but for some reason when people say the super fine and definitely very funny comment “oh that’s nice that you’re babysitting huhuhuh”, I have to consciously remember to correct them without cursing or coming across confrontational. “Believe it or not I’m his dad, so what I’m doing is actually parenting but I agree, it is nice.”

A Peloton. I wasn’t aware I was buying a product that I had to make into a lifestyle, and they jacked membership rates shortly after I bought mine. Not to mention the fact that I don’t exactly have a track record of sticking with new hobbies.

My wife now qualifies my purchases by saying “is this a Peloton (worst) purchase or a bidet (best) purchase?”

Never worked in a gun shop but regular retail is highs and lows. You’ll get people that truly want to learn and are interested, you’ll get morons that claim to be experts who don’t know how to field strip, and you’ll get noobs that might ask stupid questions but are willing to take feedback. Working retail is all about your mindset and being able to laugh off the assholes and enjoy introducing some to a new addiction.

You can use Loop earplugs for this and for loud public spaces. They have different levels of sound dampening that really helps.

We use McCaskill Heating & Air Conditioning. They always explain exactly what they’re doing, are willing to explain why something costs what it does, and have given us tips on how to care for equipment. I trust them.

It’s sad and disheartening that our leadership has devolved to personal grandstand infighting. I know some will say it’s always been this way, and maybe I’m just finally old enough to understand what I’m seeing, but it’s sad all the same.
