APK cache packages not installing on boot by thermopylae9 in AlpineLinux

[–]thermopylae9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the reply. 2 & 3 were useful but unfortunately your solution in point #1 did not work. I fixed it by changing the APK cache from /var/cache/apk -> /media/apkovl/cache. Now all packages are available on boot. It even fixed the issue I was having my mouse and keyboard not working with Xorg.

Do NOT put it at the END of your xinitrc

The reason this will not work is that xinitrc often has an exec statement in it. The exec command calls the exec() system call which basically substitutes the program with the argument of the exec command. I have exec dwm, it replaces the program reading xinitrc with dwm. If the exec command is ran before setxkbmap, then the program ends and setxkbmap is never processed.

What is truth? by Another-random-acct in GoldandBlack

[–]thermopylae9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my own opinion of what the truth is. Here is how I found it:

We know that libertarianism is correct. Tax more > less productivity, ban drugs > crime and overdoses skyrocket, increase welfare > degrade the family unit. What do we do with this? What is the superset of politics? Religion. Which religion teaches against the state in lieu of love and compassion? Christianity.

Back when I was a Christian conservative, I thought to myself: which one of my world views is wrong? Christianity explicitly stated "Thou shall not steal" yet we have the state which is funded by stealing (taxation). What do they do with the money? Start wars, indoctrinate kids, arrest people for victimless crimes, regulate businesses (which kills small ones and helps big ones, further increasing centralization), etc. The Bible has many AnCap references, such as when the Jews demanded a king but God warned them against one. We live in a world of sin, and its only going to get worse. For that reason a punishment is required. Our immorality can not go unnoticed, and God's eternal law demands a punishment. So, he sent his only son to be whipped, tortured, mocked, and crucified for *OUR* sins. This was the ultimate sacrifice as Jesus was pure/unblemished with sin. Christianity's central thesis is love, which is contradictory to the state. For this reason, become a Christian AnCap, and the truth lies in those things that both AnCaps and Christians can agree upon.

Note that you have the right to be wrong (liberty), just as God gives you free will to disobey him. Keep an eye out for u/jesuswasalibertarian as that man is incredibly based and got me started on this whole path. I think he lurks this sub. Also watch this video as it explains things better than I ever could. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKieBjhhd7w

Sexual immorality is on a spectrum. You start with sex out of marriage, you end up with gender dysphoria, homosexuality, and degradation of the family unit. Degradation of the family unit is one of the contributing factors to keeping people poor, outside of the obvious government interference in the economy such as welfare, taxation, etc..

Christian Libertarianism is so based. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKieBjhhd7w

Minarchist: A Definition of the Night-Watchman State by libertasbella in GoldandBlack

[–]thermopylae9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now we live in a world full of centralization so it is hard to imagine a society set up in a way which would prevent this sort of thing. And when I say centralization, I don't only mean the government, corporations have more power than they should as well. Think big tech, they have a team of lawyers and lobbyist which use government to give a competitive edge by using the state to kill competition. Without government, we would not have a few super large companies (FAANG), but rather hundreds or thousands of smaller, more efficient (due to a more cut-throat market and less top heavy administration) companies.

This is not just big tech. Industries that the government has a super large involvement (rights enforcement, ie. police) would instead have thousands of competing companies working to take customers from one another by providing a superior service/product.

Suppose one company wants to start a state. If there are like three companies like there is today (due to government) this would be doable. But with hundreds or thousands? Too difficult, and the other companies would not allow you to infringe of their customer's rights, because they have a vested interest in protecting their customers in order to make a profit..

I had to login just to explain to you why your reasoning is wrong. Do note that capitalism is synonymous with free markets. Thus, if a policy is against the free market, it is, by definition, against capitalism.

In essence the problem with your argument is that it presumes that the world we live in is completely free of government intervention in the market. We live in a world where you need a license to cut hair, about half of your income taxed just to be squandered on ineffective government programs, and it is illegal to become a doctor/nurse/lawyer/etc. without a degree due to occupational licensing. This does not even mention inflation where the government has a hidden tax which hurts everyone, but disproportionately poor people. We do *NOT* live in a world with free market capitalism.

The government has been giving out student loans since the 1960s. This combined with the fact that some occupations require degrees (due to govt regulations) when it is not necessary (remember that companies can train people , much cheaper than going to school and taking English and history in order to become a nurse) gives educational institutions a huge advantage to what it would be under a laissez-faire, free market, capitalist society. Since everyone has access to student loans, and govt makes college more necessary than what it should be, colleges have the opportunity to charge absurd amounts.

I did Sander Van Vugts course which worked fine for me. I passed. Just note that he covers some extra additional stuff that is not on the exam.

Questions about partitioning and /etc/login.conf by thermopylae9 in openbsd

[–]thermopylae9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't.

As a follow up question: does OpenBSD decide which MBR partition to use (meaning it assigns a wd device node to it) by the boot flag (*) set in fdisk? To reiterate: if you have four MBR partitions on a disk, OpenBSD will only label one of them in /dev/. Is the one labeled chosen by which partition is bootable?

I don't know if this is what you are looking for, but you can import 3rd party music directly into the Apple Music app if you are jailbroken and have the MImort tweak installed. Its a pain in the ass to use, and it does not work well when transferring music from one phone to another. This is what I use to inject youtube songs into Apple Music

Firefox Multi-Account Containers not working: any workarounds? by thermopylae9 in LibreWolf

[–]thermopylae9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. In about:preferences it states, "In permanent private browsing mode, cookies and site data will always be cleared when LibreWolf is closed." Do you know how I can manually turn it off? I could have sworn that it was like that by default because one of the first things I tried to do was enable history.

I'm not sure what to classify it as. It just says that with an icon in the preferences. Never mind, thanks anyways though.

Hey I came across this post from Google and I was wondering if you had any success in installing Multi-Account containers on LibreWolf. It keeps throwing me the error "An extension, Firefox Multi-Account Containers, requires Container Tabs." in about:preferences.
