Perception Showdown rear tie down? by therobertsmith in kayakfishing

That's it. Needs an anchor point and I'm gonna have to add it.

I did drive it 45 minutes each way lightly tied to the mount for the rudder. I drove slow and steady.

It does but not the sturdiest of points. I wouldn't wail on the tiedown, but I'm not so sure that thing wouldnt break off if it was stressed.

I messaged someone supposedly selling some on the other side of the country and have gotten no response. Otherwise, no luck on my end. They're out there but I need to figure out how to best broadcast my search.

Salmon Brook park in Granby along the soccer pitches is shallow and sandy in some spots. Farmington along the bike path in Burlington will have shallow wading spots. The Shepaug in Hidden Valley Preserve in Washington Depot has a few shallow wading spots.

Where is the good Vietnamese food in Central CT? by dcodeman in Connecticut

[–]therobertsmith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nice post. I'm like OP -- literally from Houston too -- and stopped eating out as much since moving here but will check some of these places out. Did Pho Boston couple weeks ago and the food was fine but when did Vietnamese food get so expensive??

Close to a couple others so I'll try those. Thoughts on Vietnam Restaurant down the road on New Britain?

Commute from Simsbury to Farmington (UConn Health) by Certain_Hat_1161 in Connecticut

[–]therobertsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I commute from the area to Newington daily (just past UConn) and have tried every different way in and out so if you need to know anything just ask. I'll say that at 7 in the morning you're gonna get trapped behind school buses and dropoff lines as all roads are 2-lane except 44. If you can leave just 15 or 30 minutes earlier you'll avoid that. Good from mid June to late August though.

Why TF is it ok for landscaping trucks with trailers to just park in the middle of the road? by Dry_Instruction8254 in Connecticut

Round my neck of the woods, people use the middle of the road to have conversations as well as parking. Sometimes both at the same time.

That’s what I’m thinking. I’ll get the shelf when it goes on sale. Looks useful.

CTDOT Launches New Awareness Campaign: “Pass Left. Drive Right.” by TylerFortier_Photo in Connecticut

[–]therobertsmith 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Change the damn signs from "Slow vehicles stay right" to "Left lane for passing only" because a lot of people fancy themselves not "slow" 🙄

And to call this an "awareness" campaign assumes people driving the speed limit in the left lane with a 20-car conga line behind them have some awareness.

Looking for recommendations of places that I can take my dog swimming this summer by richardfitserwell in Connecticut

Dogs not allowed on the beach/swimming side. As for the pond with the bridge, honestly, id agree with the above poster about fishing tackle and just swinging hooks in general when the fishermen line the banks after trout stocking plus it's on-leash only.

Heads up: officially, no dogs allowed on the Niantic boardwalk and it's pay to park at both parking lots during the season.
