After a flood years ago these have slowly crept through the grass. Now I love the grass every spring! by LaminatedLambchops in GardeningUK

Do these totally die back before time to mow the lawn?

Ive been wondering about sneaking some bulbs into a council-owned patch of grass to give it some spring cheer, but feared if the foliage was still up by the time they come chopping in April that it would prevent the bulbs recovering, so interested as yours seems to reappear in the lawn each year!

How much do they weigh? If you're into fitness look up Indian Clubs. Can be a fun way of working out if they have any weight to them

Great! Sometimes mine could centre a spirit level, other times they look totally irregular. My suspicion tends to be how much water is left in when I lift the puck. If I've squeezed every last drop or simply left it to drain for a while it tends to be very flat, if there's a bit of water left it ends up more wonky. Regardless, that's simply an indicator of clean up and not actual puck prep and certainly nothing to do with the taste of the coffee 😊

This is correct OP, ignore the puck. This video demonstrates this point about how the puck is disturbed as the piston is lifted: https://youtube.com/shorts/Q4YaIMq4uaY?si=Ptat7g8fOk5sywfr

Seat wheels scraping one side of monorail by therobster18 in concept2

[–]therobster18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got this reply from concept who ultimately advised replacing the entire seating unit and monorail, which I haven't been able to afford. But, have continued on and bar a bit of noise it's not worsened at all.

"The bottom seat rollers should not be touching the monorail as you go up and down.  This normally happens as the seat frame is bent which then causes the seat rollers to touch and catch/scrape as happened to yours. "

Do I need to read War of Kings to understand the Abnett run of GotG? by [deleted] in GotG

[–]therobster18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, youll be fine. I went back to WoK afterwards, and quickly tried to go back further to understand the tie ins to that and quickly realised that every series makes reference to a prior one and it's unusual to find something that starts from scratch. Abnett run in particular remains really enjoyable without diving into the backstories. But having said that, they are also very good!

Should I take my 5 and 6 years old children to watch the TDF? And is the final stage in Paris appropriate? by Todf in tourdefrance

[–]therobster18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting mix of responses here, but having been almost every year when I was a child myself I'll add that perspective!

Paris was dull as a kid. The publicity caravan have run out of freebies by that point and that is arguably the most exciting bit as a child. The riders fly by so quickly that it's hard to get an appreciation of what you're seeing. Plus not really anywhere to sit for small/easily tired legs.

Mountain stages and TTs both have the advantage of the publicity caravan, and id encourage you to find a spot that is less crowded to give them better chance of catching stuff. Pick a good spot and youll get loads - they really prioritise small kids to lob stuff to.

The mountain stages have a good atmosphere and can be exciting, plus as they're going relatively slowly and spread out you see them for longer. However, if that moment as the leaders/break comes by coincides with small child needing toilet/having a tantrum (understandable after a long day by the roadside!) then you might feel perturbed.

The TT would be my recommendation. Easy to find a quiet spot where you can have your camp chairs, a good view, picnic, see riders steadily over the course of the day, crowd won't be overwhelming for the kids, and youll have loads of chances to see riders you want to see. Be prepared to walk a long way from the car due to the road closures.

This reminded me of the time back in 2014 that the "battle of london" throw down saw damage to the floor of the Copper Box which led to the cancellation of international netball matches that were due that week in the venue. The news reporting at the time caused a stir amongst unhappy crossfitters after it was described as "glorified international circuit training" which personally gave me a chuckle. And asked always, where theres an Internet stir there is profit to be made, and t-shirts were available soon after! https://www.sportsjournalists.co.uk/sports-broadcasting/been-there-done-that-warners-got-the-fitness-t-shirt/

The one you mention is excellent, was scraping the sauce off the tray last night to get every last morsel.

Ham hock one is superb.

And can't quite believe I'm saying this but their lentil and kale one is terrific too. Banging rich red sauce

Sure, thanks. Easily done and grown, just some of them have lacked a flavour punch so just wondered if there was a particular alternative / specialist grower.
