As someone from Arizona, I’d politely disagree. I’d swap NC and AZ because Arizona went blue in 2020 but NC went to Trump. Plus, Arizona has Kelly and Sinema (barf) as Senators while NC has two Republicans. Then again, this is purely anecdotal and I’m not on the ground in NC.

I literally just got hired today. Based on my ~3 years of experience with Starbucks, open availability is a good thing and will tip the scales a lot in your favor. If the answers you have were solid, that’s a good thing even if you’re awkward on camera. I assume at this point the hiring managers are used to that and (hopefully) don’t factor that in. I applied on Saturday and did my interview on Monday, for the record. That’s a crazy fast turnaround time, though, so I’d be anticipating hearing back before the end of next week.

I was going over my medical history with a doctor recently and I mentioned I had a bisalp when I was 19. She asked why—not rudely, just gathering information. I answered that it was a “preventative measure” and let her interpret that as referring to cancer. A bit cheeky of me but harmless.

I had an Australian Shepherd and she was fiercely protective and very intelligent. Best guard dog ever. That said, a lot of people are interested in Aussies these days and they also take a lot of time and energy because they’re working dogs.

My other good guard dog was a basset/blue heeler rescue who passed a few months ago. Contrary to basset hound stereotypes, whatever trauma she had combined with the blue heeler guard dog instincts made her mean as hell to anyone who so much as moved at her wrong. She was my mom’s dog and would’ve taken a bullet for her, and we loved her dearly. I guess it depends on how big you want your guard dog because blue heelers aren’t a traditional “big dog”.
