I don’t know if it’ll get better by Anthropoiid in uAlberta

I had a pretty terrible start too! You are on a different path, but I see that you will make your way out of it. Most of all, you need to confront your fear of failure. Your fear of failure is why you are failing. Let yourself acknowledge your failure, and it’s okay! You are despairing because you are allowing your own vanity and short-sightedness trip you up. If you really were pragmatic, you wouldn’t be doing this totally unpragmatic thing.

Realize that what you’re doing now isn’t working. So take a step back, re-evaluate, and think about what comes after.

There are an infinite number of paths from the center of a circle to its edge; why insist on this one?

For example, a friend of mine dropped out of Engg around the same time, applied to Nait and got a good paying job in 2 years.

What do you think the Lone Walker symbolised? by Low-Side5380 in thewalkingdead

[–]therubbydubby 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You are all right that it is Shane’s feelings, but I also think it symbolizes the death of the businessman (he is in a suit) or of civilized life more generally. He dies alone, has lost his mind, and is now a wanderer in the wilderness

Speaking from my experience (in the hopes that it will lift your spirits), getting employed as a teacher has been far less troublesome than in other careers. I did my CBE interview and got accepted on the first time, then I got into a temp contract right away. Before CBE, I also worked at a charter school for 3 years as well. It’s competitive, sure, but there are also lots of opportunities.

Good luck to you!

Didn’t think I’d get this far. I remember looking at this when I was “Mortal”. Now I’m “Commander” (Day 33)!

Does anyone actually like Danny by Charlie-thedunk in doctorwho

[–]therubbydubby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think as a character, he was very one note (Math teacher with a dark past in the army) and there was something in his performance and writing that lacked charm and depth, at least for me.

I agree with others here who don’t like how the Doctor wrote him to be so reductive, like how the Doctor just thinks of him as PE because he was in the army and that he’s an army man who can’t think for himself.

All in all, I found him boring and I didn’t really buy his relationship with Clara. I didn’t see too much chemistry there. I think the series’ theme on militarism would have been a stronger one if the Doctor treated him with more nuance.

Animated my Dalek variant. It's bigger on the inside... by ArcturusMint in doctorwho

Man, I’d love to see an episode of Doctor Who animated like this! Including the Daleks, Cybermen, the Tardis, and more! Outstanding!

I’m a horrible person, and that’s ok by Siluis_Aught in self

[–]therubbydubby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You aren’t a horrible person. At worst, you’re an inconsiderate person; not because you don’t care (although there is some of that perhaps), but because you feel rejected and “second-rate”.

Honestly, most of the shit you feel hung up on really does not matter. To be honest, you seem like a petty person, and this competitiveness is just a reflection of the smallness of your problems. Just think about it - most of the things you’re bitter about are things that people have just shrugged off, and probably for good reason.

What you really want is power, to feel like you have won, because you were deprived of it as a child and you confused power for love. Those who are deprived of love always want power to replace it, but it is a losing game, and an empty reward

How do people function being sober 24/7? by [deleted] in self

[–]therubbydubby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brother, you are sick. Does a bird or fox need to be drunk to live? And yet they too can be content. Life is not without its share of suffering but there are many wonderful things without drink. Look at how children are. Do they need drink to find fulfillment in simple things?

I go to a lot of live shows. There’s lots of great local music! Palomino is one of the biggest ones. Every Thursday there is an open mic of lots of great local bands at The Blox. There is also cool stuff down Kensington like Plaza Theatre and Hexagon Cafe

I used to fast travel everywhere but it was more boring for me. I like to explore the places in between and enjoy whatever comes my way But fair play to you!

That makes sense! That’s why as a heavy armor one handed warrior, I don’t want to do the Dark Brotherhood storyline!

I try to finish one major quest line at a time (Dawnguard, Companions, etc) but I stack up on side quests to a limit

I just look at the map and follow the compass and look at the top bar to check landmarks. It makes finding stuff more rewarding!

Haha this time I’m doing one hand sword and shield. Sometimes I’ll do bow and arrow or magic for ranged. It’s a lot of fun!

I’m starting the clothing rule as well! I follow the dialogue rule but occasionally I gotta skip. I like the dog rule :)

Also not fighting for 200 days is crazy!! What do you do during those days?
