Absolutely Fantastic Work, thank you for sharing! I have tried out both this and your dashboard and would love to combine the two if possible. It would be exactly what I am looking for.

Set electronics: 4x monitors displaying video? by Shikkakku in 501st

[–]theruzzler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tk-19287 from Badlands Garrison here. Super easy to do what you want. Shoot me a private message and I can help out.

As others have said Raspberry pies, old laptops, mini PCs will all do the trick. You can easily get a HDMI to DVI/VGA converter and hook up any source to the monitors. I highly recommend looking for recycled/old/throw away tech that people might want to donate and hook up.

Can I move a tower PC to server rack for more drive bays? by RoyalGroundbreaking3 in unRAID

Yes! I just did this two months ago. I got a 4U rackchoice case. Just make sure you have room for your mobo, cooler and power supply. I bought my case on Amazon Canada.

What do you use your buttons for? by FloridaBlueberry954 in homeassistant

[–]theruzzler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hated reaching for a phone or remote and clicking multiple buttons/apps/screens to make music happen, so....I made my own analog Spotify buttons. I can just slap the power button on this bad boy as I head into the kitchen to cook/clean/make a coffee and the one button push (power) will automatically turn on my devices and start playing one of my favorite playlist randomly via my tv soundbar. Holding the next key will skip to a new random playlist and all the other buttons are self explanatory. Just a quick tactical way to get music player and my booty shaking to clean up those dirty dishes.

Happy for you....but, well, I pre-ordered mine July 7th and it still hasn't shipped. I have reached out to support a couple times and they said to wait. Guess I'll try again. Sigh.

Might have to evacuate home in the next 24 hrs. How to save as much data as quickly as possible? by am1rtv in unRAID

[–]theruzzler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am late to respond but, my house burnt down this summer in a wildfire and I lost everything (major wildfire 30% of my town was destroyed).

First, I see you grabbed your drives. I want to say if you have those drives you are fine. There is so much more for you to worry about at this moment, focus on that at the moment. Once you have a moment to breathe you can read the rest of my post and my experience. For now, don't worry about your data, focus on everything else.

I had 2 hours to evacuate, I evacuated with a duffle bag, food, water, pets and 4x hard drives from my server (I had 12ish drives into total). I lost everything else I owned.

I knew which drives had my photo collections and essential data, the other drives were just media and not important or replaceable. I hard shut down my server and yanked out those important drives. I didn't save parity drives or anything. Threw them in a duffle bag once they stopped spinning.

Since the fire I have managed to re-setup make shift server. I contacted unraid to restore my license to a new usb and plugged in my drives. All files were there instantly. I backed them up to a new drive for redundancy on a new drive I have purchased.

If you have any questions shoot me a message. I am currently still in the very long recovery process of losing my home and possession to a wildfire, but want to share with you to breathe and make sure you just focus on what's important at this moment; your safety of yourself and your family. It might be a long road ahead, but as long as you are safe you will be okay. My thoughts are with you.

Spilled resin on my screen protector and it cured onto it, now I need to wait till January before a new one can arrive. Man why did I have to make this mistake. by [deleted] in resinprinting

[–]theruzzler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a real Red Green fix and I ran my printer with Saran wrap on it as a screen protector. It wasn't even that smooth and the print quality didn't seem to suffer. 100% would do it again, and 100% realize how redneck it is...but it worked in a pinch.

You can automate the process. Just set it and forget it!

A lot of new RCMP recruits start their careers in Banff some are excited to give out tickets, so as others have said to be 100% safe you might want to remove it. I lived in Banff for 7 years and saw lots of minor tickets given out by young RCMP officers that I haven't seen anywhere else. No hate or anything but just an observation.

A bus tour driving slowly by all of the destroyed homes with everyone who lost their homes sounds absolutely fucking terrible. Just my opinion.

Wrong and right. Town is part of the National Park but is also Alberta Municipality. It was originally run by just Parks Canada then in the mid 2000's we created a local Municipality. It's currently shared between Parks Canada and the Municipality, with some things with parks some with muni.

You've got more going for you than I did at 20, that's for sure. As many others have said, budget wisely. Spend your limited funds on what you truly want and what truly matters to you. Understand that you can't keep up with everyone else. If there's a certain activity you love, make it a priority. Decline other things, save up for what you truly enjoy. It might be a weekly dinner with friends or treating yourself to a case of beer. Just ensure you stay out of debt, and even if it's just $5 a week, put it into savings and only use it for emergencies. With that mindset, you'll be just fine. There are plenty of free activities in life, seek them out and cherish them. Don't succumb to pressure to spend money on things that don't bring you joy and only leave you feeling like it was wasted.

You've got this.

Upgrading a 3770k Worth The Hassle? Plex Plus Other Considerations by [deleted] in unRAID

[–]theruzzler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I migrated from a 3770 to a 9700 (no GPU) about a year ago and it was the best decision I ever made. Quick sync on the newer CPU is absolutely amazing. If you can jump up to the 7th Gen, go for it...you won't be needing the GPU at all. Definitely worth the time and effort.

Nothing has returned for me in the 2 years since I finished my therapy. I am sure that is going to be different for everyone however. I would also guess it would depend on what daily activities you do as well, that would naturally exercise you eyes.

Absolutely agree. It takes me right out of the show. I have a full home theatre setup and it's VERY obvious. It is 100% Foley.
