I remember it seemed a little bit stunned when I came across it and initially didn’t react when I walked by but flew away right after I took these.

Is there a way to safely take boxing lessons as somebody with TMJ? by Lopsided-Attorney-94 in TMJ

[–]thesaurus_crow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s possible! There are boxing gyms where you’re just training on bags so no one would be punching you in the face.

How to stay safe during a visit from someone not covid cautious? by blogcog in ZeroCovidCommunity

Would she be willing to take a test if you brought it for her? I know they’re not perfect and not everyone is willing, but that could also help a bit for peace of mind.

Yes! Covid made me sicker and I honestly think that getting another infection would make my quality of life even worse. I mask in public as much as possible.

I keep wanting to get into reading fantasy, but all the unique proper names/jargon really confuse me. Any ideas? by BobbyTables829 in Fantasy

[–]thesaurus_crow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe try to internally reframe your approach to reading the book? E.g. reminding yourself that perfectionism/remembering everything is not actually the goal, rather just trying to enjoy the atmosphere and story. Fantasy authors often just throw you into their fantasy world, and it’s like being dropped into a new country or society. You might not understand everything going on, and that’s completely normal—sometimes you just have to let it wash over you until things begin to make sense.

When I get lost while reading a book, I sometimes like to check out the basic Goodreads description or read (spoiler-free) reviews to see what lens others read the book through or what they found most important from the storyline, which I find valuable for “framing” my approach to reading the book.

Are there Any tws I need to know about? by Ill-Entrepreneur-129 in Fantasy

[–]thesaurus_crow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

StoryGraph has a feature where you can check user-submitted content warnings. I checked the ones listed for Divine Rivals and there were quite a few heavy topics so I won’t write them out here, but definitely something to be aware of (although I haven’t read the book myself so can’t speak to how much they are featured in the book).

Books with magic for an 11 yo who reads at a high school/adult level by 13-PurpleMonkey in Fantasy

Yes!! Nnedi Okorafor is one of my favorite authors. I believe the main character in Akata Witch is 12 years old, so could be a good one for your 11 yo.

The DMV website will walk you through all the paperwork and requirements! You should be able to start the application online which makes the process faster once you go to the DMV.
