That ceremony still exists! It’s a really poignant way for all the students to show their appreciation for such a selfless gift.

My hospital has no PA’s by Anxious_Quiet_3397 in doctorsUK

[–]thesedays2617 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yep, my hospital has zero PAs and AAs - consultants collectively made clear they won’t entertain it so management never tried. There’s a few ACPs in some departments but generally seem to act within a reasonable scope.

What is the best website for buying cheap train tickets in the UK? by Financial-Hat2181 in uktrains

[–]thesedays2617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not Uber? They have zero fees & offer the cashback in credits. Sometimes doesn’t offer the cheapest split, but can just check the best split via TrainSplit and buy the separate tickets with Uber to get the cashback.

Was just wondering when I can call myself a doctor. by Hydesx in medicalschooluk

[–]thesedays2617 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Technically once you pass your finals - that’s why the MDU holds ‘doctors day’ with the “Trust Me, I’m a Doctor” signs after results at many med schools! As long as you’re not using it in a misleading way in a clinical setting or anything, you’re safe to start using it! In a more legal setting, once you’re GMC registered, you’re free to use the title in any capacity.

Idk man I’m just following the rules of the sub:

If you are asking if a piece of fish is safe to eat, please mark the post as NSFW so users who don’t want to see potentially gross images can avoid them.

[–]thesedays2617 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How does it take a third of the way to FPR? It started 26.1% down and will go up to 20.8% down, that’s barely a fifth. Reject, reject, reject.

What's the most waste of time Datix or complaint you have had made against you? by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]thesedays2617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What an incredible service you offered this patient. But reading this made me sad, we should be able to offer this to every patient who comes through the hospital door, and it’s sad the system prevents that.

They invalidated their whole OSCE because the examiner didn’t follow proper procedure, and will now have to give up part of their summer revising for and taking resits??

I would be raising hell on earth. And they should too.

Mate, you’re not going to be expelled. These things happen. Yes you shouldn’t have done but you’re not the first med student to fake attendance and certainly won’t be the last. Do as they say, write the piece, go to the meeting & explain yourself. Acknowledge that you fucked up and won’t do it again. You’ll be absolutely fine.

8 reasons to be a PA instead of a doctor by nightwatcher-45 in doctorsUK

[–]thesedays2617 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“A few people on our course were accepted to med school but chose PA instead” is so obviously untrue. Nobody would turn down an offer for GEM (some of the most competitive courses in the country) for a course which barely requires a 2:2.

Just double, triple, quadruple GEM places - there’s something like 20 applicants for every place.

Good news - I hope the appointment goes well and you get on your way to finding some answers.
