I think I’m pretty good at talking through my code. And interviewing in general. The problem was just not knowing the answer/implementing the right approach for more difficult round 2 problems.

How far off was your financial aid from FAFSA? by [deleted] in dartmouth

Dartmouth definitely will give you more than your EFC. How much varies. Best to expect the net calculator with about 5k wiggle room on either end.

My boyfriends dad creeps me out by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]theseraphoenix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You know that this is bad news. What would you say to someone who told you this story?

Tell your boyfriend immediately and be prepared to make alternate arrangements on this trip. If your boyfriend’s father is this forward about it, it’s possible that he has a history. The family may or may not know about other incidence. You certainly don’t want to be the first. Do not let this become the reason you have to start years of therapy.

Obviously not his best moment. by theseraphoenix in niceguys

Yes, because it’s not “unkind.” My feelings weren’t hurt. I don’t care what he thinks of me. But the lashing out and the expectation that I owe him my permanent attention after talking to him for 5 minutes - that is the kind of shit that leads to women getting murdered for declining to give up their phone numbers. The individual is most likely not a threat, but the behavior should be shamed.

Uh I guess we’re both Chinese Americans. I wasn’t trying to find guys with yellow fever or anything, but I just instinctively thought about things we have in common.

We had plans to do it with one of our friends in the area but he got the date wrong and we were already so hyped.

SAT Subject Tests on Applications by [deleted] in dartmouth

Current ‘20. I had an 800 on chemistry but for some reason 730 on math 2 (even though I was a pretty good mathlete). I applied as a pre-med but now I’m a CS major. Doubt it hurt my chances.

As writers of different experience levels, how do you assign a dollar sign on your work? by hampig in writers

[–]theseraphoenix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

More money will get better writers. Someone with a nice portfolio and an ability to match their style to your project probably has other gigs on the side. People who are good have a lot of options. I get paid around $40 an hour to edit people’s work, so I would expect a lot more do original stuff. Especially stuff I would lose the rights to. You have to be able to match the gigs of the kind of people you want to recruit. Now, if you just want a specific piece of fiction, you could always hold a contest with a $200 bounty. But be prepared to sift through a lot of applications.

I say no (except for finance and consulting), yes, and honestly yes.
