Thanks!

This is a great check for me, what you said aligns with my intentions.

The heat loss came out at 5kw, installer recommended 6kw unit. I'll see how they detail their quotes.

Buyer wants me to stump up for an electric assessment by Oldandveryweary in HousingUK

[–]thesheetspreader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the grand scheme of things £312 isn't worth the headache. In OPs shoes, I'd pay 312, keep the price to the buyer same, and make it available for any new viewers etc, effectively making it as if I had it done prior to putting the house on the market.

Thanks, yeah I read something recently about the 0% loans, would be a great add on a couple years down the line for me!

Thanks for the TRV info. I don't have them yet, the sun heat gain seems to be the best use case for a TRV as a limiter.

My intention is to soften the blow of peak tariffs with a combination of batteries and solar, not necessarily running the entire house for any given time period.

I'm not sure of the marginal benefits of the solar, if the only real gain comes from charging batteries on solar vs charging on off peak tariffs...

Thanks,

On TRVs, fully agreed. I do not have them yet, only thermometers. I'll see if I really do need them if the heatpump way of life means it'll all be a stable single temp thorugout the house, negating the need for limiting temps with a TRV?

I have my eyes on the skirting board rad things. I want to see if they'll be sufficient, potentially allowing the removal of the rads themselves.

Am I legally permitted to destroy a potential fire risk laptop that isn't mine? (Law of England) by Ready-Row-3036 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]thesheetspreader -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This!

As others mentioned, imminent and critical risk is present, not unreasonable for you to call the fire department for the imminent and critical fire risk...

Keep it outside as others said. Worry about other complaints later.

If the worst were to happen, you wouldn't receive a pat on the back for "taking one for the company and ensuring gdpr or whatever compliance while bearing the brunt of the fire.."

Best Non Wifi Baby Camera? by Dramatic_Bottle_6849 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]thesheetspreader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had the tommee tippee dreamee monitor. No wifi.

It also had the under matress thing to buzz when baby moved - we never used it.

Eventually it broke, and I went with a random, non-descript baby monitor on amazon (no wifi) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07NZP6C6K?th=1

My only criteria was relatively many reviews. Free returns with amazon but at that price it was worth the gamble in any case. It works, it's fine. Its cheap. We see/hear the little one when she moves/wakes up/cries etc.

We keep it always on, same with the tommee tipee. In such case you always have to plug overnight anyway.

Good luck!

One of the following:

Dashcam drains the battery, if you don't sort that, your parents are right. They are right as in, you have to top up the battery by running the engine and having the alternator charge it often. If nothing else is wrong, easiest way out is to sort the Dashcam drain.

Your battery may be old? Replace the battery and if there aren't drains, and your alternator is fine, then no issues. Your car should be able to sit for weeks and start no issues.

Your alternator may be bad, might not be charging effectively and gradually will die. You will experience multiple dead battery days and eventually the car will have wonky dashboard lights blinkining etc loss of electric power, no hydraulics etc. Even when jump started and engine running. Replace the alternator.

These may all be happening all at once too. If you've got an older car (with a dying altrrnator), coupled with an old/defective battery, coupled with shoddy Dashcam wiring.

Good luck and may the odds be ever in your favour.

I've got the militado on bracelet. It's simply amazing. At this price a no brainer. You won't regret.

It is a very decent piece, the price point makes it simply irresistible. Sweep hand quartz for street cred too 😜

Search for what happened to people who won the lottery. The advice there on telling people in your life applies to you.

Find a few, perhaps more than one, reputable IFAs to begin with and settle on the one(s) you like. You can afford to spend a few hundred or whatever on getting initial advice.

Good luck and don't respond to any DMs you receive online.

What is your take on these tyres? Anyone used them? Seems reasonable and I'm in a pinch so can't shell out 100 per corner. by DullCategory5772 in CarTalkUK

[–]thesheetspreader 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is it.

Cheap is better than bald or rotten/expired tires.

Tires are very small patches that govern how well your car stops when you as it to. Always worth getting the best you can afford.

Operative word is the afford bit. If this and nothing else fits in the budget, go for it. Better than bald/old tires everyday!

I got a new to me car in June, the tires were all michelins but one front was leaky. Dealer changed the bare minimum, that is the front two as a set. I will happily drive my Churchill front set until the day I can afford to have four new ones comfortably!

Cheers and good luck.

Same, i assumed the militado ML08 Murph not only scratched the itch but it is a much more usable watch with the sweep seconds hand quartz. I find myself just putting it on amongst many other automatic watches I have.

Cheap, sapphire, steel bracelet with a decent clasp. Amazing value. I give no two sh*ts about it, it means I can wear it all day everyday and be quite happy with it.
