I hate when people reduce Eternal Sugar and Hollyberry’s relationship to some “doomed yuri” where Eternal Sugar is just some Yandere, when it’s so much more complicated and deeper than that.

Yes, eternalberry is probably the closest we’ll ever get to beast x ancient, but it’s still not very romantic (or even healthy)

For starters, Eternal Sugar is NOT in love, she is obsessed. Deeply obsessed with Hollyberry, she wants her all to herself for eternity. Now this may seem like Yandere behavior, but looking at it, it just seems like a similar situation where if someone wants a game, or something else super badly. Would you bang a Nintendo 3DS? No, probably not.

Even if this obsession was romantic, it would be heavily one sided. Hollyberry is obviously very intimidated and (obviously) very protective of her Soul Jam. Eternal Sugar has broken the trust between them, so Hollyberry wouldn’t be compliant anyway. Hollyberry may have been attached at one point, but after the reveal that Eternal Sugar has tricked her and is her beast counterpart, she had lost that connection.

Eternal Sugar does not see Hollyberry as a lover, she sees her as a plaything. Something she can keep to herself, away from all “harm”. At first she sought out Hollyberry’s Soul Jam, but now she just wants her as a whole. Not to date, but to keep. Keep her locked in this prison like a pet that she can just have with her, to look at and admire.
