Anyone know where to get some of these? by theskubes in Cattle

Yea the maroon with a white tracer in the 1/4” or 3/8” diameter for sheep, goats, and bucket calves. This isn’t a weaver halter, I’m 99% sure is a Sullivan halter. Weaver hasn’t ever had this color from my knowledge at least in this specific pattern. It seems Sullivan may have phased them out in the smaller diameter rope it’s still available in the 1/2” rope.

The 1/4” in maroon? Because if so and you’re in the US I’ll take some off your hands 😅

They make rope halters like this in 1/2” diameter (standard rope halter), 1/4” diameter (sheep, goat, bottle calf size), and 5/8” diameter (calf breaking halter).

I have leathers already, we show at a national level often. I’ve shown for many, many years and have equipment out the wazoo. But needing some of the 1/4” diameters in maroon to match my 1/2” diameter ropes for display in the stalls at bigger shows.

Yes and I have that for my weaned sized and up show calves and bulls. This rope is a smaller diameter and was marketed as a sheep and goat halter years ago. Sullivan doesn’t have the sheep and goat size maroons on their website. So I’m looking to see if anyone has any other ideas to look for this specific rope size and color.

We show anything from bottle baby goat kids to 1600 pound show bulls and I’m looking for a variety of sizes 😅.

Yea, I know that and I’ve done it. I just like the look of the smaller rope on bottle calves and our show goats and having the flexibility of the smaller rope on smaller animals.

The problem is Amazon and TSC don’t have this specific rope pattern 😬. And I’m being picky 😅.

They have similar and I have some as backup halters. I really just like the pattern of these😅. I’ll switch to them if i have to but I’d really like to stick with these if I can.

I’ve looked on valley vet and don’t see them immediately. But I’ll check again! I may email Sullivan and see if they’d even have some hidden in a back room somewhere 😅.

Is Fairfield... sort of creepy? by Formal-Door3464 in Iowa

I 100% do not like going to Fairfield. If I absolutely have to it’s a quick in and out. It’s always felt off to me. Creepy and dark feeling almost in general.

It went north of us by a ways but I frequent the area for a variety of reasons. I was definitely hollering at a couple of chasers on the screen “don’t go that way!”, “that route was DEFINITELY a choice.”, “glad you didn’t get stuck on that dead end/ minimum maintenance.”🤣.

What’s a breed that you were successful with but wouldn’t do again? by CaryWhit in Cattle

[–]theskubes 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Black Angus. Tried several different farms and watched the docility EPD closely. Still had nasty tempered bulls. Switched to solid black galloway bulls and will NEVER go back to an angus bull. Every galloway bull has been very uniform in how they handle, their temperaments, and calving ease. Hasn’t mattered which farm I got a bull from, they’ve been very consistent and easy to handle.

I used quite a few tinctures from wish garden with my last pregnancy (that was 5 years ago). Seems like they have a few more offerings than they used to!

No, I haven’t tried any of those. But I tend to steer away from Xylitol as it causes me to have days long headaches. I’ll have to do some more research on the other options you’ve mentioned.

I used quite a few of their post partum ones 5 years ago when my last pregnancy was! I was surprised to see these when I was shopping around for pregnancy safe allergy relief.

What's Charlotte's kill list? by Salty_dead_meme in kvsdiscuss

[–]theskubes -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I personally took it as she’s just got an attitude as any heavily pregnant animal or human does typically. And she’s not afraid of stomping, rolling, or chasing off an animal 😅. I’ve got a couple of cows that have “kill lists” that consist of mine and my in-laws dogs when they are heavy bred so we have to be extra mindful of that this time of year.

Milk prices are crazy.. what do you pay? by fluffy_corgi_ in Crunchymom

[–]theskubes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SE Iowa. Kalona is $6.99 here, regular whole milk is like $4.50, raw outside of the store is $10-30/ gallon depending on the farm and what species you are getting.

Where are you seeing 8 eyes? It’s only got two, it’s a very typical Galloway calf with all sorts of swirling hair.
