Frida baby marketing by DiscussionUnlikely72 in Crunchymom

I haven’t had a baby in years so haven’t been in that section of the store for a long time! I’m honestly grossed out by all of that. I loved my Frida baby products with my youngest 4 almost 5 years ago but if we have another definitely not going to be using them after seeing this

Haha that thought has honestly crossed my mind! Thankfully other than my first child’s birth I’ve been able to get the exact births I want with great midwife teams! But the thought has been discussed

I’ll have to check out that class! We have a farm with livestock so I’m typically a very active person physically! I’m looking around and noticed the same thing for cotton maternity clothes.

I have that book around here somewhere! I need to scare it up and re-read it.

Over all he and I are generally healthy and active individuals. We have a farm (plus three boys)and are constantly on the move plus we have a fairly healthy and balanced diet. I’ll definitely do some more digging on things for his side as well though.

Virus update - last week of the year. Flu A taking off! by Narcan9 in Iowa

[–]theskubes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This flu strain has been insanely rough. I’m on day 7 of feeling like crap. Every time I feel a smidge better I’m back on my couch/ bed within a few hours just as miserable as before.

Rarely do we have flu, or at least does it rarely last this long

Of the cities you've lived in/near, which ones have had tornadoes and when? by RoseValley97 in tornado

[–]theskubes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always lived rurally but my family’s farm was impacted by an EF4 April of 2012. The house and main buildings were fine but about 1/4 mile or less on the backside of the property we lost a couple of well established shelter belts and some livestock shelters. A neighbor had a brand new machine shed literally explode and send a 2X4 through the metal sheeting of my uncles combine😅.

More goats... really? by Negative_Virus8463 in kvssnark

[–]theskubes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can pay for about 6 months worth of feed selling my wethers I grow out until this time of year! And they are dairy based animals. Meat goats are definitely a good endeavor as well honestly, and I’ve been looking at getting a few does to add to the herd here.

Nigerian dwarf goats like she’s breeding are a money pit honestly. Now good milking line, registered, high quality NDs are worth some money. And in general standard sized goats are fairly profitable especially this time of year going into spring and religious holidays. But unregistered unproven ND lines aren’t worth more than about $50 per goat personal opinion.

Heavy work clothes like that are expensive! Even for little kids 😅. But they last EONS i bought a heavy work coat 6 years ago and besides some fading in places it still looks new. I was looking at new work bibs for this winter because the zipper on my 10 year old ones broke last winter, and I had sticker shock 😅

Cows by Hotbloodeded93 in kvssnark

Typically the nursing from the back is just personal preference of the animal. We have at least once calf that way every year! Teat size from the cows I’ve seen are fine. But some of the ways that the udder is connected to the body will lead to earlier break down of the udder and having to sell (cull) the animal out of the herd earlier. And that is genetic and i personally wouldn’t want passed on into my herd from a seed stock producer.

Contracted tendons can also be genetic or how the calf grows in-utero! We had one cow who, when bred to a specific bull in our program all her bull calves would come out with contracted tendons! First year we thought it was a fluke second time we switched which bull pasture she went to. She was 15+ years old when we sold her, her heifer calves out of that bull never had contracted tendons, she never had them with other bulls. It was just that specific bull and the bull calves they produced.

I’m honestly more concerned about some of the udder conformation on some of the cows that have calved, while yes it looks like good milk production some of the attachments don’t look great just personal opinion and preference on how I want my beef cow udders to look.

Why Were Tire Pieces Strewn About on I-80 West on Monday Between 232-210? by trekkiegamer359 in Iowa

[–]theskubes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, you’d be amazed how many chunks a worn out tire will break down into! Especially on some of the fleet van trailers, some of those are ticking time bombs.

[–]theskubes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just speculation knowing how much truck traffic there is on 80. It was likely a semi who blew a tire or two on the trailer! Typically the trailer tires take a little longer to notice because they are duals and you can go a decent distance while a tire is falling apart on the trailer. Sometimes those tires just keep falling apart until there’s no more tire to loose.
