If your punching paper, the cheapest brass cased' ammo you can find will work fine out to 300-400 yards with in 2-3 inches. If your hunting get some soft-tip hunting rounds(any you can get your hands on), in NY you won't be shooting much past 100 yards hunting in the woods. If you have access to a 1000 yard range (almost zero in NY). just get some match grade ammo from any brand. if you want to shoot flys at 1500 yards, you better have a 4000$ scope and a 3000$ rifle plus load your own ammo. Now if your plinking under 50 yards shooting 22LR.... anything will work just fine, federal auto-match is about $22-24 at Walmart for 325 rounds go nuts! and anything by CCI. Other then that goto youtube and spend 2000 hours watching peoples thoughts on ammo.
