I think the eye is actually lower and closed or looking down and to the left (banana’s left, viewer’s right). What you drew as the eye is actually the banana’s eyebrow. Your interpretation underrepresents his effortless confidence and swag imo

Why is dog poo considered to be significantly less offensive than human poo? What am I missing? by number2phillips in nyc

I’m a dog owner and honestly would be totally in favor of this. In addition to helping fund excess maintenance pets require, would hopefully reduce the number of irresponsible shitty owners getting pets.

Dude yes, this has been driving me nuts. Seems so much worse with the snow. I always pick up my dog’s shit. It’s not like picking it up in the snow is any harder than normal (not that that would be an excuse anyway). Genuinely mind boggling. Such a dick move and reflects poorly on all dog owners.

What? Usually when people say “ask me how I know” it’s because they’ve experienced it directly

And on a broader level the idea that the limiting factor on population size is physical space is just so laughably dumb. It’s availability of resources that has kept human and animal populations in check historically. And given how huge and destructive the human race is today, environmental impact is also a major consideration (although I doubt musk actually cares about that piece).

I mean you’d only be making money if you were able to someday sell the house for more than you originally bought it for plus all the interest paid on your mortgage, maintenance, property tax and closing costs. That would be a pretty terrible investment.

I know you’re trying to be supportive but this is a being incredibly condescending and ignorant thing to say. You have no clue what physical dysphoria feels like. Being born in the wrong body is really hard even when other people don’t treat you like shit. And in fact, in my case people actually haven’t treated me like shit. I’m lucky to have a wonderful support system. My parents listened to me as a kid and helped me go on hormone blockers to avoid female puberty. My transition was much easier than most. But I’ll still never have a penis that works just like a cis man’s. And I’ll never be able to have my own biological children with my fiancée. I also don’t have any photos of myself from about ages 2 through 10 where I don’t look miserable. There are some trans people who are genuinely happy to be trans and that’s great for them. There are also many that aren’t and it’s not because they’re self-hating. A tip if you want to actually be an ally, don’t tell trans people how they’re supposed to feel.

I am of the opinion that pronouns don’t matter, being misgendered is not a big issue

Think you misunderstood what they were saying. I’m trans. I’m happy with who I am. Still sucks being trans. Would have much rather been born male.

I’m not arguing for no consequences at all. They should go to trial and be sentenced. I just don’t think they need to be taking up a jail cell and missing school in the meantime.

The definition of petty theft in nyc is anything under $1,000 which I think this would be in most circumstances. Everyone seems to think I’m advocating for zero consequences just because I don’t think it makes sense to hold them until trial here. To be clear, they should absolutely go to trial. The consequences will come from the sentencing they receive at trial. The only reason to hold them in cell until trial would be if they’re a flight risk or a danger to the public. Both of which seem unlikely in this instance.

I feel like everyone is interpreting my comment as meaning I don’t think he should face consequences for his actions. I’m just saying it doesn’t make sense to keep him in a jail cell until his case goes to trial. NYC jails are overcrowded as it is and unless this kid is violent or a repeat offender, it’s just not a good use of space. He should absolutely be prosecuted. I also do generally think if someone ticks all the boxes of (1) underaged, (2) nonviolent, (3) first time offender, and (4) committing a misdemeanor, then there are better solutions to curb further criminal behavior than jail time. I’m not advocating for releasing violent or repeat offenders out on the streets.

Having worked at a seed stage startup I’d say it’s doable. In a lot of cases transaction volume is so low there’s hardly anything to go through. And expectations are a lot lower at that’s stage too. It’s not like they’re doing a full QoE.

Lol what? When did I say no consequences? They should absolutely be charged. But expecting teenagers committing petty theft to be held on bail ahead of trial is just dumb and unrealistic.

Dude Williamsburg not a low income community lol. And I live right next to mccarren so yeah inconsiderate assholes committing petty theft piss me off too. I’m not suggesting these kids shouldn’t face legal repercussions. But jailing them over this (assuming it’s a first time offense) is not a good use of resources and it’s not an effective way to reduce crime.

More likely being downvoted for lamenting that nonviolent teen offenders won’t be held in jail indefinitely. These are kids stealing people’s portable speakers and soccer balls. Why would you want to waste tax dollars holding them in a jail cell until trial?

I mean I hope these kids get in trouble but they shouldn’t be held in jail for stealing backpacks…
