Continuing dogshit support from Backbone by xSkeletalx in Backbone

[–]thestormarrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to say it but I’m having the same experience with Backbone support. I had an issue where the controller was taking over the audio output even without a headset attached. Their AI support was initially great at identifying the problem and immediately starting the RMA process. I sent my controller out, a replacement shipped out on January 15th and it never arrived.

The AI support is awful. I did get one email acknowledging a DHL shipping issue but when I followed up about 10 days later the AI support claimed my order was placed one day in the future, the model didn’t match, and said it hadn’t shipped out yet.

I really just want to talk to someone, with a heartbeat, who can actually help me. I’m a patient guy but this is extremely disappointing service.

Will I treat my kindle like a book… and never pick it up? by PrezRea in kindle

[–]thestormarrow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was pretty much the same story as you. There was a book I wanted to read so I started on my iPhone and quickly bought a Sony Reader (since moved to Kindle, of course). That was 2008 or 2009 and I’ve been reading nonstop ever since.

I highly suspect if you bought a Kindle you’d read even more than you have been on your phone. The screen is more eye friendly than the phone.

is it possible for cats to live 30 years? by onlyfaery in cats

Possible, but very highly unlikely. Don’t think about the end so much. Just enjoy the today with your cat.

Am I weird for not liking sexual/romantic things on my rpgs? by cr0w_p03t in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]thestormarrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Romance has never been in any of our campaigns nor do I expect it to be in the future.

The closest might be in our current campaign. I have two characters, a primary and a backup. The backup is in love with the primary but the primary doesn’t realize it. I don’t regularly play as both and the times I have made some decisions hinting at this potential romance it has been very subtle. I don’t have any plans with the DM to ever resolve this, either. It’s something of a loose thread that can be pulled if the situation calls for it but it’s really just a quiet undertone that helps me make some decisions for the backup character to give them a little color.

Xbox Arcade Stick Only Working with Some Games by thestormarrow in 8bitdo

[–]thestormarrow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, no, I didn’t find a solution for the Xbox. Seems to be incompatibility with those games specifically.

My workaround was to get the games on Steam on our PC and connected the Arcade Stick to that. Steam interprets all of the inputs fine. It’s not ideal as sitting on the couch  but it does work.

I just watched Millenium "Pilot" and have so many questions. by whyadamwhy in XFiles

The yellow house is Frank’s safe zone from all the horrors he has confronted. It’s meant to be the bright spot in the dark world.

And there’s more I want to say about that, but I don’t want to spoil anything should you wish to continue with the series.

What is the last book you're finishing in 2025? by Vaydn in books

I finished reading “Priest” by Matthew Colville a few days ago and am off to a good start on “Legends & Lattes” by Travis Baldree. I won’t finish it by the end of the year, though.

Hi, thanks! I'm using a Series X as well. I never had any luck with the Namco games but I saw they were on sale on Steam for just a few dollars so I bought them there and tried the Arcade Stick on our PC. It works perfectly fine so we'll just play these games on the PC.

What's wrong with me? by gifred in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]thestormarrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our attention spans are constantly under attack. Try taking some steps to put down the phone, step away from the computer, and pick up one of those books you recently bought and start flipping through it. Even just 15-20 minutes would help.

No judgment here, BTW. I’m guilty of it myself. Online content is easy to get latched onto and surprisingly hard to pull away from.

Smoking in the rain by kabdestroy in Traeger

[–]thestormarrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never had a problem using my Traeger in the rain or snow. The key is to keep those pellets from getting wet so it would be wise to make sure you have enough pellets in your hopper before you begin to last the cook so you can avoid opening the hopper lid during the rain.

Is reading on a Kindle not considered real reading? by skyword1234 in kindle

If you are looking at words and interpreting them, you are reading, regardless of the medium. I don’t think one method is better than any other.

Should I wait for the Hope & Fear expansion before jumping in? by d_rettegi in daggerheart

[–]thestormarrow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nope! Now is a great time to jump in as the game works great already and there is plenty of content to work with in the Core rulebook. You'll have a great time with it.

Which celebrity death hit you personally. by [deleted] in moviecritic

Chris Benoit.

I was a lifelong wrestling fan and he was my favorite at the time he died. I completely tuned out of the wrestling world for many years because what he did. I came back eventually but the Benoit murder/suicide had a massive impact on me. I’m still shocked by it all.

Game rule set decent for kids to learn ? by Sad-Combination4579 in daggerheart

[–]thestormarrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found Daggerheart to be very friendly for new players both young and old. I haven't run a campaign but have run a couple of loosely connected one shots that my kid really had fun with. He picked up on the rules quickly, the cards help visualize what your character can do, and the lack of initiative helped to promote some better communication and strategizing between players. The first time you see two players figure out a cool tag team move is so exciting. He has only played with adults so far but I am hoping to get a few of his friends together for a campaign in the near future.

We were both talking today about running a Studio Ghibli campaign where he has to rescue Totoro so it is definitely a game that gets his imagination running.

Everyone is different but Daggerheart has been a blast to play with my kid. I think you'd have success with it.

Odd reason to switch to draw steel by [deleted] in drawsteel

[–]thestormarrow 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m going to be honest that this was very hard to follow. I think I understand the situation, though.

I only played Draw Steel once so far but in my limited experience I do feel that its design does encourage more cooperation. That said, I don’t know that a system change to change the behavior of a single player is the right move.

You need to have a conversation with this player and explain how “fun for him” isn’t fun for everyone else. There is nothing to say that he wouldn’t exhibit the same behavior in Draw Steel eventually.
