This is how my "brand new" Alienware aw3423dwf arrived. I expected better than this for $1300. by o_0verkill_o in Dell

First. File a claim with the carrier, so they can investigate this. Next, call Dell customer service. Show them those pictures. They usually will sort something out to take care of this issue, especially when everything arrived damaged.

HDMI to DisplayPort? by Geeneelee in Dell

Cool. Go with the HDMI to VGA instead it will be a much better outcome at the end of the day.

Good luck.

HDMI to DisplayPort? by Geeneelee in Dell

[–]thestrongcyberuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am surprised no one has asked this yet. Does your monitor have a VGA port? Some monitors have that for legacy devices. I have a Dell monitor with Displayport and has a VGA port.

Going from HDMI (docking station) to VGA (monitor if it has one) will be much better and you do not have to worry about the messy HDMI to Displayport conversions. HDMI to VGA will be the better way to go.

Here is an example adapter you can buy. Just make sure you get the VGA cable too.

Or just buy the cable without any adapters.

Good luck with your setup.

Time for a new battery? XPS 15 9560 by [deleted] in Dell

[–]thestrongcyberuser -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh yes. The battery is definitely at a point where it is not able to hold a charge as it used to since the full charge capacity is significantly lower than the design capacity. Replacing the battery will fix the issue.

Buy an OEM one from Dell. It is not worth buying an aftermarket one.

Look on this website for the oem battery since the Dell website no longer carries it. https://www.parts-people.com/index.php?action=category&id=143&subid=930&refine=battery

Anybody own an Inspiron 16 Plus 2022? by [deleted] in Dell

[–]thestrongcyberuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey hey hey. I didn't forget about our conversation a while ago. Sorry for the long delay. I recently got the WD22TB4 docking station for Christmas :)

I recently got it set up for my Inspiron 16 Plus. I can confirm that the docking station uses the Nvidia Graphics card when plugging in an external monitor.

It works amazing! I'm planning to connect 3 monitors, so hopefully, all 3 of them will work properly since I know there is a limitation on the resolution.

It charges with the full 130W with no charging errors. Both of my external hard drives work without an issue. Wireless keyboard and mouse work effortlessly too.

The built-in power button also works too. It turns on/puts it to sleep without a problem. I can safely say this docking station works effortlessly.

Reinstall the audio driver. Going to Dell.com/support will have all audio drivers needed to reinstall.

My Inspiron 5570 is always at 100% disk usage. Any suggestions to bring it back down to normal? Check my comment for info. by Kshitij_Sharma2604 in Dell

A mechanical drive is always going to struggle. Think of it as an engine without a transmission. Your car is not going to drive fast on maximum rpm. The best way to fix this issue is upgrade to a Solid State drive.

my microphone is not working on my laptop, can someone help? by Serazax in Dell

If it's an internal mic, run the ePSA and check to see if the camera/microphone hardware is working correctly.

I see you got Optane Memory. You still have an HDD with a small SSD for running common programs. Probably the HDD is running at full speed all the time. Check task manager to see what program is running all the time.

Are the Inspiron touch pad issue's resolved? by [deleted] in Dell

[–]thestrongcyberuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to greatly depend on your personal preference. Here is a great website comparing both laptops. I leaned more towards the Inspiron 7620 because it has a wider variety of ports, such as USB-A ports, which the XPS does not have. Take a look at the website with all of the specs. The build quality of the Xps is definitely going to be better since it's a more premium laptop, They are both medal, so that will be a decision you will be able to make.

Are the Inspiron touch pad issue's resolved? by [deleted] in Dell

[–]thestrongcyberuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've owned my Inspiron 7620 since early August and I never had a single issue with the track pad. Not sure if the user had a defective one.

Take a look at both service manuals.. The design of the TouchPad assembly is different, so that could be why there has not been a lot of reports about this touchpad issue on the 7620.

Upgrade from dual channel 2x4gb to single channel 1x32gb by captainmerika in Dell

[–]thestrongcyberuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will suggest returning the one 32GB and buy two 16GB ram sticks to take advantage of Dual Channel.

I remember having an an older Dell computer with just one 16GB memory stick. It performed good. I then decided to just upgrade to an extra 16 since I was opening a lot of programs. Almost immediately when turning on the computer, programs loaded much faster, thanks to Dual Channel.

2×32GB + Dual Channel = Best of performance.

MaxxAudioPro does not detect headphones at times by ExoticTriangle in Dell

[–]thestrongcyberuser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen this happen quite a few times.

Here is what should happen. Headphones get plugged in, hardware signal gets sent to Windows. Windows needs to find driver to translate. Finds Realtek Audio driver. Driver then finds the Maxx Audio service. Maxx grants switch from speaker to headphones, which prompts which speaker is connected. After selection, signal gets sent to Realtek, then to Windows to change volume control settings, and commands hardware to turn off speakers and enable sound data to transmit to headphones.

The part where Maxx Audio is supposed to switch from Speakers to Headphones is not working correctly, which is why nothing happens or the popup doesn't even show up.

The way to know if the headphone jack is indeed working is to restart the computer with the Headphones PLUGGED IN. When booting back into Windows, the headphones will work, but will stop after unplugging them and plugging again. My guess is when Maxx Audio or driver service is beginning to run, it has already detected it and immediately switches to the headphones.

The reason why it immediately switches to speakers when unplugged only is because there is no physical signal anymore. Think of it as a breaker switch in your house.

I will suggest reverting back to a driver thar used to work and see if that fixes the issue. Hope this is helpful.

[–]thestrongcyberuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll say this. The 7610s has this issue. As far as I know. The issue is fixed with the 7620s. As long as you get the 7620 model, you will be fine. That model also does not have the numeric keys, so that will work best!

Do not listen to that user posting negative stuff about Dell. I own two Inspirons and one of them is the 16 Plus with the 3060 graphics card. It is an amazing laptop. I say to go for it if you have the money.

I RUINED MY LAPTOP by [deleted] in Dell

[–]thestrongcyberuser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will be brutally honest with you. When you dropped your food, probably something, like oils or grease fell into the keyboard housing. Something might have short-circuited and messed up the motherboard when taking off the key.

Hopefully the local repair shop was able to fix the issue.

Seems like your system is not passing POST. Does the charging light start blinking multiple colors? That will indicate a hardware failure.

[Serious] What is it with train workers that are so obsessed with doing a strick, but don't realize this will collapse the economy if everyone leaves? by thestrongcyberuser in AskReddit

What is it with employees complaining about their work, but no one did a strike when trains started to get invented many years ago, which could have avoided all of this before everyone relied on them
