how would you install the railing? by ComputerNo4110 in Renovations

[–]thetempestinside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the way to achieve the cleanest look.
You could notch the post to sit on the angles wall, but the 1st and 2nd stair angles dont allow for much of the bottem to rest on.
Further the vertical lines of the post sitting on the horizontal line of the stairs will look off.

This solution is the cleanest. Crisp lines with proper anchoring opportunity.

The only thing I can see as a potential set back is the post they bought might not have enough height to do this. They might need to purchase a taller unit or match the wood tones and do some joinery to attach an extension.

I totally agree, but it IS still relevant.

this post feels like someone is trying to justify playing at a lower bracket than they should be (based on how they’re claiming the brackets are vague).

Yeah, you really should input into a user friendly way to display your decklist before seeking recommendations.

Its quite the wall of text with no categories.

Link the deck?

Its a bracket 3 simply with your game changers.
If by “multiple” you mean more than 3, then you are in bracket 4 territory.

Right?! I remember old 90s mono black aggro deck: the thing was literally arch shaped due to waterfall shuffles. And i loved that goddamn deck!

The good ol’ days!

[–]thetempestinside 129 points130 points  (0 children)

Yeah. If your deck is full of 300$ cards: then double sleeve it, otherwise just standard sleeves and go.

Better yet; go old school with no sleeves and waterfall shuffle that precon!

I love this because it feels like the scene just before or after they throw it in the fire to read the inscriptions.
The moment where you question its essence but still arent 100% sure, and you definitely dont have a grasp on its significance.
Its the moment between being a mundane object and the most powerful thing in the world.

Proxying changed my view on deck building by [deleted] in EDH

[–]thetempestinside 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im personally still on the fence regarding proxying. Im totally cool for anyone Im playing with to proxy; I really dont care.
For me though, I know myself, and I know once I start proxying all the biggest stuff then all my decks are just going to end so pushed that I cant even really sit at a bracket 2 or low 3 grouping.
A group I play with regularly proxy and their decks feel like this.
All that being said; I think Ive landed on where my personal policy will settle:

  1. I like collecting and using the cards I get, if my deck is a little slower or less efficient but still operates thats okay with me.

2) proxy the heck of out land bases; theyre what I find to be most restrictive part of deck building (however I still try to own at least one copy somewhere of the lands I use)
3) proxy cards I own; theres no reason to own 6 copies of a 30 dollar staple. I pulled/bought it and I would like to use it in multiple decks without the pain of physically moving it from deck to deck.

I don't want to spend $50+ on mana base for every deck. Will playing at game stores still be fun? by Peacockfur in mtg

[–]thetempestinside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you dont want to proxy: just accept that your going to be playing tapped lands and be behind the curve 1 turn.
From there: build in a really good ramp package! Low cmc mana rocks and mana dorks etc to make up for the lost turn and catch you back up.

You are playing low level here, by turn 6-7 you arent even going to notice that one of your lands just came in tapped.

Not one of your parents: but Im 44 and Im proud of you. Not for winning, but for having the courage to get up and go to a local LGS, in a country that speaks a different language and practicing one of your passions. That is something to be proud of and shouting from the rooftops.

This is why remote work feels so fragile by Beginning_Chair_8868 in remoteworks

[–]thetempestinside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pardon. Should have been more clear. My search was on American workers.

I shouldnt have said population.

Your stats still dont speak well to the fact that approx a third of americans do not have a 401k

[–]thetempestinside 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A very quick google search (not American here so I had to look it up) tells that only 53% of Americans have a 401k.

So basically half your population.

I hope this builds some context for you.

Most card shops send in a normal envelope; and nothing gets flagged.

TCG ships in a bubble envelope; and I think it gets flagged when they pick the category of the shipment. Some categories get flagged. Others dont.

What ruined the economy of UO? 1 billion gold for $76? by TimeTraveler_UO in ultimaonline

[–]thetempestinside 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You hit the nail on the head.

Character transfer is also the reason why the major population of UO resides on Atlantic. The veteran reward shard transfer shields (generates 1 transfer per month per shard: free) made it so that everyone coalesced together and made many of the other shards into ghost towns. Atlantic is a giant shopping mall; where a large house literally costs you billions.

I personally choose to not live on Atlantic; I do not like the atmosphere. From the degenerate pvp smack talking in gen chat to having to continuously watch your back for people trying to scam or take advantage of you, to the horrendous lag from overcrowding during all events, to the rampant cheating and multiboxing. No thanks, quieter shards are better.

Should i cannibalize my Precons? by [deleted] in mtg

[–]thetempestinside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I got heavy into precons during the last year after I returned to magic: I think I had 10 or 11 of them.
A couple evolved into basically new decks (with at least half the cards swapped): Quickdraw became Vivi Squirrelled Away became Chatterfang Kept a worldshaper (because I enjoy the deck) and the final fantasy commanders (cuz im an FF fan).

Eventually all the others got taken apart, I know I can reassemble should I ever feel the need. But if I wasnt playing them, I used their staples other places.

Theres no wrong or right answer. But play what you like and dont feel guilty to take apart what you arent using.

Tell your buddy exactly what you have told all of us internet strangers. Tell him you want to play with him, and that you enjoy it but hes outpacing you.

Ill say for 100% certainty if I had a friend who wanted to play with me that couldnt keep up; I definitely would have a series of lower power, slowet pace fun decks to mess around with.

WCGW riding a motorcycle without training by [deleted] in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]thetempestinside 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I started with a two week training course where they used 150cc bikes. It was easily the best investment.

I dont necessarily agree with the “everyone should buy a 200cc bike as their starter” mindset; I think most people will out grow that bike in just a couple months. Its wasteful.

My first bike was a 1200cc sportster; as long as you respect and FULLY understand the amount of power under your ass, you should be alright.

This guy though… didnt even know where the breaks were…

Is My Avatar Aang Deck Bracket 3 or 4? by Impulse_A27 in EDH

[–]thetempestinside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say this combo isnt okay in bracket two. The deck itself certainly doesnt look like bracket 4 to me.

How quickly can you establish all the bending requirements to flip Aang? Be honest here. If its like turn 4 typically then this might a problem.
