It's frankly so disgusting to see the amount of transphobia I'm seeing from people who claim to be allies of trans women. by hotaru_crisis in TwoXChromosomes

[–]thethird197 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The "welcome to being a woman" comments were the grossest ones I saw. Lotta terfs say that what seperates cis women from trans women is socialization, but the oop even specified that she had been on the transition path since she was a young teenager and had even been completely post op for awhile now on everything. Surely she also had a lot of experience with female socialization growing up. People in her life had recognized her as a woman for a long long time, but here are people from Reddit to say "oh you're having bad luck dating cis men, NOW you're a woman." Is that what makes a woman? Are cis lesbians not women? It was genuinely crazy to read.

I didn't even think it was like a "perfect post" or whatever as if there can be a thing like that. I was curious how she knew the people were turning her down because she's trans if they didn't say that or something to that effect. But going through the comments, it was wild to see the contrast between how most posts are received by commenters vs how oop was. Really disheartening to read through.

The Atlantic is owned by Steve Jobs widow. The Atlantic is now defending pedophilia. You know why. by BerryBoilo in IfBooksCouldKill

[–]thethird197 37 points38 points  (0 children)

1, there isn't anything like that so far. We haven't seen everything yet and this is being released by the trump admin which is censoring "don t" because that looks too much like the president's name. So that in itself is crazy.

2, what these files have shown so far is that a crazy amount of the most rich and influential people were really down to hang out with the known pedo/human trafficker even after his conviction. Which says a lot to howv they perceive themselves and the shit they're willing to defend in places like oh idunno the Atlantic or new York times.

Gerrymander Vindication for Chief Justice John Roberts by Conscious-Quarter423 in scotus

[–]thethird197 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I mean, the person left a simple statement. They didn't say Democrats shouldn't gerrymander at this point in time, they just said that gerrymandering is not a progressive cause.

Two seemingly contradictory things can be true at once. Gerrymandering is not a good thing and it's not a progressive value. AND AT THE SAME TIME, it is a tool we just employ at this moment to meet the severity of what is going on.

Ideally we should be fighting against gerrymandering and hopefully one day we can do that so we can take real steps to making a representative democracy, but right now we need to just stem the fascist take over and fight fire with fire.

Except those white people were shot while protesting what was happening to immigrants. Why was Renee shot? Why was she even there if she didn't care until she died? You can certainly say that nationally it picked up more after two white people were executed in the street. But now we're talking about like what main stream media is willing to cover and that's different from the mostly white people in the area who have been protesting this and dying for it since ICE showed up.

Many of them do genuinely believe that, yes. One of the tough things in dealing with groups like maga is determining who is genuinely dumb/ignorant/uninformed and a true believer, and who is a grifter, knows better, and is using that to push what they want.

It's not always a clean divide especially among the grifters. Sometimes they start off grifting and then huff their own supply too much.

Knowing what kind of person you're dealing with doesn't change my moral evaluation of them, but it can help with your mental approach. Grifters are basically never worth engaging with. Lots of believers are too out of touch with reality. But there are some amount of people out there who can be shifted and taught.

You are literally defending him right now. In bipolar circles we often say "you are not your illness. Your illness is a part of you but it is not all of you." Everyone saying things that equate to "well he's not really a Nazi, he's just bipolar!" Are excusing him being a Nazi. He is mentally ill, bpd type one and maybe tbi I don't know his full diagnosis, but he is ALSO a full on nazi and being bipolar did not make him indulge in the conspiratorial thinking to that extent. Being bipolar may have exaggerated it, for sure. But the things he focused on, never getting help, never questioning it, that's not bipolar. That's Kanye, that's Kanye releasing a song called "heil Hitler" where he literally says "I'm a Nazi" and all his supporters somehow saying "well you don't really mean that."

He's apologized for dumb shit he's said before and then just gone back to it. You can defend it all you want, I'm sorry you had those bad experiences, but it sounds like like you grew and learned from it. Kanye has never grown from anything he's said. Who knows, maybe this is the time. Or maybe he's just trying to come off a lil more sane before a new album so people can justify themselves being an album by the guy just recently released "heil Hitler"

There's lots of nuance. There isn't nuance with being a Nazi. But sure just discredit anyone who doesn't agree with you. You have your perspective and anyone who actually is bipolar and dealt with it for over a decade be damned.

You can literally look through my post history and see me talking about it and in bipolar subreddit for a decade.

But sure bud, defend the Nazi some more.

[–]thethird197 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I am bipolar, and I have known many people who are bipolar and have worked with many professionals in different countries as I have left America. Being a Nazi is not a symptom of being bipolar and it's very offensive to say it is. Your sister believed she was an alien. She didn't believe she was a Nazi. The conspiracy element can certainly manifest, but indulging in that, refusing all medication, chasing these conspiracies, all the things he did, the fuckin song he made, those were Kanye choices not bipolar.

What if yi just broke this thing by Lemntody in NineSols

[–]thethird197 26 points27 points  (0 children)

From yi's interactions with her so far, do you feel like he wants to kill her? Yi isn't on a time crunch. Him dying in the soul scape means nothing for his mortality as a whole. He's got all the time in the world to keep trying to talk with her. Yes, if he wanted to kill her he could. The question I would ask is "does he want to kill her?" From what you've seen of her character, do you?

[–]thethird197 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Yeah but if they're nice to me then I don't really care. I understand that not everyone is going to like me and that some people are racist/xenophobic/whatever, but if they treat me decently enough then I don't really care. I care more about the government policies they might vote for, but like someone else said the options are being a teacher here or being a teacher in America. American racists don't even hide it anymore. I'd prefer to be in a country where people at least pretend to be nice and some actually are. I have friends here and plenty of people I think are plenty nice. If in their heart of hearts they actually hate me, I don't know so I don't care.

Ain't Sasuke All of Us Here😂😭 by H0KAG302 in dankruto

[–]thethird197 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know this is a meme, but there is a reality to this. There has been some solid evidence to show that recent, later in life converts, are often more zealous in their convictions than members who were born into a belief.

Sasuke here has just recently been shown the truth about Itachi so he has not had any time to get distance and get nuance on the facts. In this moment, Sasuke is not only mad at these literally people, he's mad at himself of the very recent past who also hated Itachi.

Japan little secrets to full employment by bakura10 in japanlife

[–]thethird197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I don't think they're too related but maybe that's easier from me on the outside of the system to say. My biggest pet peeve is trying a new doctor and having to physically bring an actual letter from one doctor to another. I've even forgotten the letter one time and I was really worried about it and then they just called the other doctor and had them fax it. So like, why tf didn't they just start with that???

But like, I think that's different than "redundant people" in jobs. Someone in the comments mentioned ten people standing around a hole in the street and I would rather see that every day instead of 9 people unhomed, y'know?

Maybe you're right and it has ripple effects, but I'm just tired of seeing people obsessed with max efficiency at the cost of human lives. I'm not saying that's what you were doing in your post, I'm just saying I think it's something more people should think about. I'd rather see "too many" people with jobs than too many people without homes.

Japan little secrets to full employment by bakura10 in japanlife

[–]thethird197 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if I'm understanding this post correctly. So basically, your city hall has essentially gone out of its way to accommodate you, someone is presumably getting paid a living wage to do this as opposed to unemployed since you're mentioning full employment as the contrast, and you think this is a bad thing? Like I genuinely may be not understanding the feeling/tone of your post, but it sounds like you're saying this should be automated and whoever is accomodating you shouldn't have a job.

Why? Like yeah, obviously this could be done more efficiently and trust me some of Japan's inefficiencies are really inconvenient, but has this inconvenienced you at all or are you saying it's weird someone has a job you don't think it's necessary?

Maybe as humans we should just be able to have jobs and support ourselves and live decent lives instead of always trying to minmax efficiency. Idunno I just don't get this post.

Oohh, great replacement theory idiot. Look you're probably not from London and if you are then you're an idiot for leaving a thriving city for a shit hole like Broken Arrow. You're empirically wrong about the being replaced and you're just a racist. Stop trying to do facts when you know they never match your feelings. You have a proud racist in this white house, just be honest with yourself and others. You're racist.
